• Project into the future and discuss what you think will be the nature of our society’s drug-use problems by the year 2025. Base your suppositions on some of the social, political, economic, law-enforcement, technological, scientific, and/or medical developments you envision occurring by that time. When the year 2025 comes I expect drug-use to be common place. It seems the recent “Molly/MDA” pill craze and marijuana legalization as indicators of what’s to come. It seems that the fact that drugs are addictive is no longer used as a scare tactic. Using certain types of drugs to experiment is considered norm and encouraged in our society. I know this is a bold statement, but it’s clear we see less drug prevention programs in place in our schools and its super sensationalized in our media.
The nature of the problem will be that drug use is no longer seen as a problem or a major issue in society. I also think that we as a society allowing marijuana use to be a debatable thing is opening the flood gates for other drugs to one day be common place. I think as technology advances and as we evolve as a society the use of certain drugs as “enhancers” will be introduced. Studies being conducted will probably lean towards the legalization of the drugs. Discussion Forum 2
