Road trip companions If I had a chance of having a car ride with three historical figures of my choice, I would choose in favor of Benjamin Franklin, Gary Kasparov and Buddha, as people that I respect subconsciously. Benjamin Franklin used to be referred to as the most outstanding intellectual of its era, which is why I think that it would represent an immense pleasure talking to him, since I consider myself as person who share the same psychological traits with the first companion of my choice. Just as Franklin, I think that every person needs to strive to broaden its intellectual horizons, which is often associated with empirical experimentation. Benjamin Franklin has invented a lightning rod, while subjecting himself to a great danger. This alone allows me to talk about him as a role model. He knew how to put the public interests above his personal ones, which is why he was able to go down in history.
I think that Franklin would not have to be trying to convince me to adopt a scientific outlook on life, since I am already capable of operating with highly abstract concepts, while understanding that intellectual dogmatism has never benefited anybody. I come from the country that is associated with great ethnic and cultural diversity, which is why I think that every individual is entitled with the right of holding its own political opinion, which is exactly the idea that Franklin used to promote, throughout his life. Therefore, I have no doubt that it would delight Franklin to have me as his traveling companion, once he got to know me a little closer. Also, since I have passion for chess, I would insist that Garry Kasparov joins me and Benjamin Franklin on our road trip. Besides the fact that Kasparov is World Chess Champion, he is also known to be car enthusiast and politician who believe in the ideals of Liberalism. Kasparov remained an undisputed chess champion for twenty years, which alone suggests that he is an extraordinary individual. He often compares the game of chess to how people manage their lives.
The Essay on Franklin Delano Roosevelt President One Life
Franklin Delano Rooesvelt This essay will focus on the life of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Roosevelt devoted much of his later years in life to help the needy. As president, Roosevelt passed as many bills, lobbing for as much congressional support as he could get to aid him in his attempts to help the unemployed, starving and poor people that society had forgotten. President Roosevelt has often ...
It its turn, this provides us with very interesting insight on what can be done to increase our existential effectiveness, as human beings. Every outstanding chess player is also a good psychologist. However, unlike certified psychologists, chess players apply a unique sense of logic, while evaluating other people. We can say that those who know how to play chess also know of how to choose in favor of the most effective way of acting, under different sets of circumstances. This is why I would like to have a Kasparov with us in the car. I am sure that I would be able to learn a lot from him, in professional and personal sense of this word. It is being suggested that chess is not just a game, but also a way of life.
I totally agree with this idea and I think that Garry Kasparov would agree with it too. In its turn, this would establish a common ground, upon which our consequential conversation could be based. Finally, I would also like to have a Buddha sitting at the back seat of the car, during the road trip. This is because I always wanted to know what the metaphysical essence of Buddhism is. There are many interpretations of Buddhas message. Even his silence is often being discussed within the context of great wisdom, on his part. Although Buddha nowadays is considered by many people as an embodiment of God, we know that he actually was born as ordinary man. It is only through continually improving himself, as human being, that he managed to become enlightened. I am interested in learning the actual techniques that were being used by Buddha, in order to get a totally new vision of his own role in the world. This is because, even though that I consider myself as intelligent person, I still lack a charisma that would allow me to exercise my authority over others as something natural.
The Term Paper on Psychological Aspects of Theravada and Mahayana Buddhism
Though the most of the teachings followed by the different sects of Buddhism vary and conflict with each other, the general core values set by Buddha are still followed by all Buddhists. In regard to this we examine two Buddhism sects namely Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism. Whilst Theravada is psychologically oriented, Mahayana is idealistically oriented. The two sects have varying perceptions of ...
I believe that Buddha could have provided me with the insight of what does it take to become an effective leader, because possessing a leadership skills is often a crucial factor, when it comes to getting hired. In addition, he could have clarified, once and for all, what is the sense of life. I am highly skeptical or whether any religion is capable effectively addressing socio-political issues; nevertheless, Buddhism, is more philosophy than a religion. As such, it needs to be studied, before we can get a comprehensive understanding of it as ethical concept. What can be better than talking to Buddha himself, when it comes to learning about Buddhism?.
