The Duties of Offices Governor The chief executive of South Carolina is the Governor. The constitution requires that the Governor be at least 30 years old at the time of election, and that he has been a citizen of the United States and a resident of South Carolina for the preceding five years. Like other Constitutional officers, he must not deny the existence of the Supreme Being – a requirement included in Article IV of the S. C.
