School: Tutor: Course: Date: Learning about creative writing I have always had a passion for writing. One day, when reading a novel from a favorite author, one of my friends called me. She wanted to learn about creative writing. She paid me a visit. I asked her if she had any idea about writing. She handed me one of her articles to read.
As I went through it, I found only a few grammatical mistakes. This was an indication that she was not too badly off. Her willingness to learn was my motivation. What she needed to know was that writing skills gives writers confidence, fluency and creativity. As I read through her article I realized that her ideas were not flowing well. I taught her some comprehensive skills which would help her express what she wanted to communicate.
This would also help her ideas to flow and the person reading to easily follow her articles. I told her that whatever she writes is useful only to the extent that it can be understood by other people. Initially, her grammatical mistakes were a hindrance in this respect. So I taught her the importance of revising her written work. By doing so, she would easily spot errors that may have occurred in the initial write-up. I also taught her how to check for redundancy, proper spellings and application of words in the prose format.
I gave her one of my articles and as she read through it I couldnt help seeing the amazement on her face. She commented that she rarely came across such a well researched piece. I told her that for people to appreciate her work she needed to be open minded in her ideas. A good writer can write about any topic, given enough information resources. The secret is to read widely and voraciously. As we ended the session she said that she was ready to face the writing challenge.
