It saves our time, but certainly, does not save our lives. Car crashes is one of the leading causes for deaths in USA. To make cars safer, somebody came up with idea of seat belts. It has been proved that they decrease injury and death rate. But it is up to you, whether to wear one or not! It is not necessary to do any type of research to know that wearing a seat belt is a lifesaving factor.
Almost all the states with few exceptions have laws about safety belt use. According to this law the driver and the passenger should have their seat belts on, while in European Union, this law goes to all the passengers. That is, the driver and all the passengers have to wear seat belts. Safety belts save 12000 people annually ( Seat Belts ).
When buckled up, the % of possibility of being injured while driving goes down. So, if you are wearing one, there is a higher chance that you will make it to the destination point in one piece. It does not matter whether you are travelling long distance on a highway or if you are just driving around the block to the closest grocery store.
The Essay on Managed care state laws and regulations
State oversight of managed care generally focuses on two aspects: the techniques and processes used by a payer, and in particular an HMO, to deliver or arrange for the delivery of health care services to enrollees, and the organizational structure of the payer. (Kongstvedt 596) Much of the state regulation of managed care is based on the Health Maintenance Organization Model Act released by the ...
Statistics prove that a lot of accidents are happening at low speed and on short distance travelling. Safe and experienced drivers are not excused from driving without a seat belt. Accidents can be caused by secondary party. No matter how safe you are and how much experience you have had driving, there is always somebody who can prove that you can be taken by surprise. The most safe drivers can be hit from the back or the side when not expecting, and that is when the safety belt might be useful. Wearing a seat belt helps in showing an example to those driving in your car, whether kids or adults. According to statistics, children riding in a car with the driver not being buckled up, usually, do not have their seat belts on either.
Though some might disagree, rear seats are also as dangerous as front seats. That is why the driver should always be alert as to what is going on in the car. While the passengers should be concerned about their safety too, because even though the crash is caused by the driver, each passenger is responsible for himself. Though the implementation of safety belt use law lowered the percentage of deaths and injuries, the drop was not as significant as expected. Even after the enforcement of the law, car crash injuries are still in the leading causes of deaths and injuries. So, is there a necessity for this law? Of course, it was necessary to enforce this new rule, but as everything else, it is not perfect and some people will always be complaining.
Some researchers believe that driving with a seat belt has provoked people to take more risk while on the road. This idea came from the fact that having a seat belt will protect you during an accident. Unfortunately, seat belt is not a miracle wand or a super weapon that can save you in any situation. Some people say : Our Government shouldnt tell me what to do! I live in a free country! It is true, but the Government has good reasons for enforcing laws, one of them is to protect its people. Some people believe it is safer to drive without a seat belt, so that if there is an explosion they would not be caught on fire. It is true, they might leave the car a lot faster if not wearing seat belt, for example, by flying through the windshield, and landing dead! The chance that a person dies after flying out of the car is 4 times as high as it would be, if he stayed inside the car. Not wearing a seat belt not only puts the driver under risk, but also those in the vichicle, passengers. Very often people avoid putting seat belts on because of inconvenience, lack of time for buckling in, or just ignorance.
The Essay on Naturalistic Observation Seat Belt
Naturalistic observation takes place as scientists perform observations in a naturally occurring situation, without becoming actively involved. In performing naturalistic observations, a scientist does not make an effort to manipulate or change what is occurring. The purpose of this kind of experimentation is to create a detailed record of the events that happen and of perceptible associations ...
But isnt life worth spending few extra seconds on buckling up more important? Couple of wrinkles on a shirt is not a life threatening issue. Some people find it uncomfortable to drive with their seat belt on, because it does not allow them to reach very far. But shouldnt the only place you want to be reaching to be steering wheel? And if you want to reach further than your seat belt allows, you should pull over and stop. To wear or not to wear? Though there are points arguing in favour of wearing a seat belt, and some in favour of not wearing one, it is clearly seen that arguments for not wearing a seat belt are very weak. At the end it becomes obvious that there can not be any worthy argument to make a person want to drive without a safety belt. Inconvenience or lack of time should not stay in our way to trying to stay alive.
