Emailing E-mail in one way or another plays a role in just about everyone’s life. Just about everyone has a computer and uses it to communicate. E-mailing and instant messaging is easy and almost necessary for people in today’s world. E-mailing and instant messaging definitely plays a large role in my life. In all honesty one of the first things I do in the morning is get up and check my e-mail to see if anyone has sent me a message. It’s become a routine for me.
I get up get ready for school and chick my messages just like many of my friends and a good portion of today’s world. Personally I think that sending e-mails and instant messaging is great as long as you don’t let yourself get too caught up with it. I usually check my mail when I first wake up and before I go to bed at night. I see no problem with that, but I have friends and family members that spend a good portion of there day sitting in front of there computer screen just sending e-mails back and forth. Its almost like the computer has control of them, they sit and wait to receive a short message from a friend just to send one back. In “We ” ve Got Mail Always”, Andrew Leonard talks about how many people in today isolate themselves in front of the computer and essentially waste there whole day away.
While this is true he also says it can be used to bring people together and help us manage our lives better. The computer definitely has its ups and downs. In a lot of ways I agree with Leonard. There are two sides to e-mailing. The first is the good side which allows you to keep in touch with people and helps you get helpful information fast. I can sit down in front of the computer and send messages to people half way across the world in a matter of seconds, the possibilities are really endless.
The Essay on Intelligence Is People Enjoy Logical Good
What is intelligence? Scientists characterize intelligence as the capacity to learn or to understand. Intelligent people can attain information quickly and easily, and they can remember what they have learned. Do humans and animals have the same intelligence? Humans are very intelligent. In “A Shared Sadness” Russ Parsons tells the story of how people really come together by chatting over the computer. You learn about a man who had come down with an illness and is forced to suddenly have surgery. His internet buddies were able to give words of encouragement and get up to date information on how the surgery was going. It allowed them to keep in contact with him up to right before eh had the surgery. E-mailing also makes it easier in certain work environments. Now instead of having to deal with bringing papers to your boss of have a big meeting at work everything can be sent in an e-mail.
You can do all your work and send it with no problem. It also makes it easier for the boss, now he can just send you what work needs to be done in an e-mail. It really saves a lot of time and can be helpful for everyone. Then there’s the second side of sending emails.
This is the side of people who spend most of there day on the computer just reading and sending e-mails. In “Going Postal” Tony Schwartz gives examples of people who really base there lives around e-mailing. Because of jobs and other things these people are constantly on the computer getting e-mails and never get any free time to themselves. Because of the constant flow of emails and other work they are expected to get done they have to turn to multitasking in many cases in order to get everything done. It’s a vicious cycle for them of receiving and sending e-mails from the time they wake up in the morning till the time they go to bed at night. In “Going Postal” it’s also mentioned that a study was done recently by America Online that showed nearly 47 percent of there users took there laptops on vacation with them.
The Homework on Now Is The Time To Be Computer Literate
Now Is The Time To Be Computer Literate Now is the time to become computer literate. Now is the time to become familiar and comfortable with the computer because in the future we will become virtually a paperless society and many daily activities will be linked to the computer. Mail delivery to the home and business will be almost entirely phased out and e-mail will replace it. Bills will come via ...
Think about that. When you go on vacation the whole point is suppose to be to get away from work and relax but 47 percent are taking there computer with them. It really shows that people are too caught up in e-mails. Now the main reason why these people say they take the laptop with them is because they don’t want to get back from vacation and have to deal with hundreds of e-mails and have to do all that work, and I can understand this but isn’t it taking things a little too far? How can you relax on your vacation when you ” re doing work? Why even take the vacation? I really think e-mailing is great as long as you don’t let it take over your life. When used the right way it can be an extremely helpful way to keep in touch with others and a great way to get information quick. When you let it get to the point where you ” re spending most of the day in front of the computer sending emails back and forth you ” re in trouble.
There’s a lot more to life then e-mails. You need time to do other things and just have time to relax. How many emails you could be receiving shouldn’t always be in the back of your mind, especially when you ” re on vacation. As long as your emails are kept in check I think it can be really helpful and great, just don’t go overboard..
