There is a phrase that is used to describe a killer who is both medically and legally sane, who murders again and again and again, until they are either captured or dead. That phrase/classification is “Serial Killer.’ When most people, icluding myself, hear that phrase we tend to think of a social outcast, who is horribly ugly and mentally deranged. This is generally not true. In fact, most serial killers are very well liked by those who know them, they are also very attractive to members of the opposite sex (or in the case of homosexual serial killers members of the same sex), and usually have an above average I.Q. There are ways to categorize these vicious killers by the calling cards they leave at all of their crime scenes. This is what homicide detectives call “the signature” of the killer. It lies within the very nature of the killer that his signature will be recreated in each and every murder he commits. These categorizations include sadism, necrophilia, picquerism, and cannibalism.
When categorizing a serial killer as a sadist one must be careful to recognize its underlying significance and meaning. According to the Websters online dictionary sadism is “a sexual perversion in which gratification is obtained by the infliction of physical or mental pain on others.” As I read that definition back in my head I find myself thoroughly disgusted and repulsed at my interpretation of the meaning. That an individual would receive satisfaction from the pain and suffering of another human being is almost beyond my comprehension. As I learned in my criminology class a sadist often has his victims perform sexually degrading acts to instill a sense of discipline upon them. Those acts of degredation often help the killer achieve his goal of superiority and dominance over his victims.
The Essay on Women Killer Serial Kill
While most of the violent crimes that happens most are them are belongs to men, women have not been the wilting flowers promoted so heartily by Victorian adorers and (right or wrong) often evident in today's society. Before we get into detail about the fascinating phenomenon of the Black Widow, it is worth a brief overview of women's escalating role in the world of violent crime, particularly in ...
During my criminology class we were asked to study the different types of serial killers for an upcoming test as well as the methods that criminologists use to catch them. As I was reading over the different types one in particular repulsed me more than the other. That was the serial killer that received sexual gratification through what is known in psychology as picquerism. I remember the definition well, only because of the perversity I found in it. Picquerism is sexual pleasure gained by stabbing, cutting, or slicing another person or animal.
The following categorization of a type of serial killer is also one of the most horrific I have ever heard of. Mainly because of the respect my church has taught me about the deceased. A necrophiliac is someone who has an obsession with and usually an erotic interest or stimulation by corpses. This type of killer is different form the rest in one specific way. The act of killing the victim in and of itself has no significant meaning. The fact that they do kill is irrelevant in their minds. They are so mentally deranged that they don’t see the horrible crime that they are commiting to achieve their sexual bliss.
The last type of serial killer that I am going to write about today is that of a cannibal. When most people think of cannibalism they think of Dr. Hannibal “The Cannibal” Lector from The Silence Of The Lambs, or more recently from the movie Hannibal. It is in such films that acts of cannibalism are glorified and made to look more outerworldly than anything that could happen in real life. But they do. A cannibal is someone who eats the flesh or body parts of another human being in a ritualistic manner. This is often done to achieve some sort of unity with their victims.
As you can see there are many categories of serial killers. These categorizations are often interpretated as the signature of a killer. The calling cards that a criminal leaves at all of his crime scenes are usually what law enforcement official use and examine to catch the deranged killers before they strike again. It was the many lectures that I attended about criminology that helped me make my careeer choice of receiving my P.H.D in criminal psycholohdlfhaly to help put vicious serial killers behind bars.
