By now, governments throughout the world are realizing that terrorism is a serious threat to be dealt with. The U.S. government, along with many other nations, has made a desperate attempt to control this spread of violence. A small amount of people argue that we are being too lenient and that the government should increase their power and take the above counter-terrorist actions to a higher level. These people argue that only complete and utter destruction of terrorism is the sole method to relieve its burden from the world. When dealing with terrorism, the United States must be cautious to prevent further attacks and minimize casualties. Today, America is faced with numerous challenges concerning this issue.
One problem with U.S. policy on terrorism is that the American government tends to focus on terrorism in the scope of casualties. Terrorists are able today to attack using biological or chemical weapons that could cause massive deaths. It matters most to the United States that innocent lives are saved. However, with each day it becomes harder and harder to prevent terrorism and once terrorist act has occurred the best way to avoid terror to happen in the future would be to demolish terrorist organizations, which impose serious threat to people throughout the world. These terrorist organizations are located in many countries outside the U.S., which makes it harder to control and fight them.

The United States has a long-standing policy not to cooperate with terrorist demands, to try and bring them to justice and to apply pressure to states that harbor and sponsor terrorists. The government suggests that it can identify states that sponsor terror while many people around the world believe that it is not that simple. Nevertheless, especially after dramatic events of September 11 our government has decided to attack terrorists abroad. Many people claim that it is wrong, but I believe that it is right tactic. This caused the US to retaliate by bombing suspected bin Laden training camps, his base in Afghanistan, and a factory he owned in Sudan which was believed to have been producing components used in VX nerve gas. The USs destruction of bin Ladens training camps and nerve gas factory was good example of counter-terrorism.
It eliminated a place for terrorists to train and a potential chemical weapons attack. Counter-terrorism is the governments attempt to control, prevent, and deal with terrorism and is successful strategy. Since the United States suffered severe losses from terrorist acts it is natural that our country should punish ones responsible. The war on terrorism must progress to the next level with a commitment of international cooperation against terrorism, but some countries simply do not want to cooperate or do not have ability to do so. Therefore, I think that United States should do everything possible to fight terrorism abroad, if and only if those countries that host terrorists do not want to cooperate. That is our right to protect us from this evil. Terrorism affects everyone everywhere and must be taken seriously if the global community is to deal with it effectively.
Hopefully, the nations of the world can see past silly political differences and focus on fighting international terrorism across the globe, no matter whose soil the attack happens to take place on. Through hard work, cooperation, and efficient counter-terrorism the world might be able to win war against terrorism..
