This article “should drugs be legalized”, which is written by William Benett, argues about the legalization of drugs. According to the article drug should not be legalized because they have very harmful mental and physical affects on human beings. After reading this article I had a positive reaction towards it, thus I have the same opinion on the legalization of drug as this article.
Drugs have been the most critical problem in the U.S for many years. A majority of American population thinks that drugs should not be legalized, but on the other hand a very few quantity of people think that it should be legalized. I am among the majority of people who says that drug should not be legalized. I agree with the author that drugs are the root cause of crimes, like murders, robbery and different types of abuses. Drugs cause human brain to stop working; therefore, people who use drugs do insane things without caring about the rules and regulations. So, legalization of drugs will not decline the crime rate, but only enhance the crime rate because when drugs will be legalized it will be easily available to everyone.
In this way the users of drugs will increase, which will be dangerous for them who use drugs as well as the people who do not use drugs. For example, if drugs will be legalized, everyone will have access to it, so there will be more chance of car accidents and murders because drugs make human brain wild and insensible. Moreover, when drugs will be legalized more people will be using it, which can put a bad impact on children. The rate of drug abuse among teen will also escalate. For instance, if a person will use drugs in front of his children, the children will be curious about what their parents are doing and will try to do same thing as their parents. So, the legalization of drugs has very dreadful outcomes.
The Essay on Legalization Of Marijuana Drug Drugs People
Legalization of Marijuana From the executive that sits behind his desk collecting his money, to the drug dealer on the street trying to make his money in order to survive, the drug dealing business gives money to criminals, while innocent users are being put away in jail. The issue of legalization and / or decriminalization of marijuana use have been a highly controversial issue over the years. At ...
If the government will legalize drugs with the intention that the surplus which will come from the sale of drugs will be used in drug education and treatment programs, then this program will cost many human lives. And then how the government will pay back for lost the human lives, giving money to the victim’s family will not work because money values nothing compared to human life. If the drugs will be legalized, then who will bear the costs to society of drug use? For example, if a person will get killed in a car accident by a driver who is under influence of drug, then who will recoup for the live of that death person who has no fault in the accident. Who will be blamed for the death, the government or the driver? Paying money to the victim’s family will not bring victim’s life back.
In this way by the legalization of drugs many families will be affected, a happy family may turn into a miserable family. Moreover, legalization of drug may not be able to eliminate the black market because the criminals who sell drugs in black market will try to make drugs in cheaper way and sell them for cheaper price. For example, if government drug store will not stock crack, then addicts will go to the black market and purchase cracks from them, or simply addicts will make it by themselves from their legally purchased cocaine. In this way government may fail to achieve its goal, which is to lower the rate of drug abuse.
Legalizing drug means welcoming various deadly diseases such as AIDs. The use of drugs such as cocaine, crack, heroin and marijuana has been proved to cause unbelievable damage and harm to the body and brain. Then there will be no use of surplus which will come to from the sale of drugs because government will have to spend more money to cure those deadly diseases. The possibility of a child to be born disable may increase because drug addict mothers can not give birth to healthy babies. In this way there will be also an increase in the people who will be drug addict. Thus drugs should be banned because our country does not need drug addict people, but only healthy and vigorous people who tend to take part in the development of the US.

More over, people who use drug for only pleasure not only keep drugs to themselves but also urge other people to use it. As a result, the legalization of drugs will cause the abuse of drugs to spread so swiftly that it will become very complex for the government to stop drug abuse. In this way unemployment may increase, people may become languid and may kill or rob each other in order to get money to purchase drugs. The society can become illiterate and immoral because people who use drugs do not worry about anything they just remain lost in their own world and the country may head towards poverty instead of prosperity.
It is very obvious that legalization of drug will result in easily availability of drugs to every one and an increase in drug addicts because there would not be any breaking of laws regarding to drugs that will cause imprisonment. Also legalization will cause a rise in crime rate and unemployment because drugs makes human violent and idle. Therefore, drugs should be prohibited by law in order to keep our country drug free and to save the lives of those who are not addict.
