Learning is 2-way traffic. Whatever you learn in class, you need to apply. And examination is one way to determine how well learning has taken place – is through your answers. It’s a way to test your ability to discipline & perform under pressure / restricted conditions. During exam, you need to finish at a given time, to follow rules & regulations etc. it’s a way to know your standing among your friends/cohort. It serves as a benchmark of your ability & standing so that you know how much you need to improve. With proper guidance, students and teachers can both gain huge benefit from the system. Since the end goal is to excel during the examination, this will give a sense of direction for both parties.
Students will be more focused in their studies and this will make teaching easier for the educators. The students will also be more motivated in such examination-oriented system. The reward awaits them at the end of semester or year and this will create healthy competition among classmates. The students will work harder to improve themselves and the teachers can try to find a way so each student will be working together to work for success as one unit. Firstly, a person will be able to know his performance. Exams encourage the performance of student. For instance if a person score low grade, it encourage him to work hard in order to score high grade. And also it encourages people to work and learn, creates competition, and develops ones personality and confidence. For instance, if a person passes the exams and got a good result, it helps to get a scholarship which will bring to have a good job. Example: As you know people who learned medical science and passed their exams can become qualified doctors. But if there were no exams, everyone can become doctors? Such doctors can even kill us remember. So is in the case of an architect. If he hasn’t learnt and passed an exam, all buildings he constructed will collapse. Thus,exams should not be abolished.
