Should Illegal Immigrants Be Able To Obtain a California Drivers License? One of the hottest debates developed in California recently. The issue of whether undocumented workers should be allowed to obtain driver’s licenses is boiling up again. The debate definitely possesses a two-fold nature because the arguments of both sides are quite logical and have solid backgrounds. However, while it is definitely true that most of illegal immigrants are uneducated and many of them still have hard times explaining their basic needs in the nearest supermarket, still the safety on the roads must be given the highest priority over snobbism because legal American citizens are going to be the first party to suffer from illegal driving performed by illegal immigrants. Let me review the most important points of the debate. First of all, those who stand on the prohibitionists side claim that drivers license in this country is used as the primary identification document. This means people can open bank accounts, rent cars, and also do many other things that are actually allowed to citizens of the USA and legal permanent residents only.
Apart from statements that illegal immigrants soak resources from the USA and must all be taken back to Mexico, this is one of the basic arguments that prohibitionists present. However, the simplest reply to this is the fact that the licenses for illegal immigrants will have special red signs on them, intended to indicate that the bearer of the document, basically, has no legal rights. However, the document is intended to indicate that the bearer has successfully passed the state exam and has legal permission to drive a car. This means the person was tested for his knowledge of the rules and will act accordingly in any problematic situation that will possibly occur on the road. “I need a license to go to work,” said Rodriguez, 23, who drove a taxi in Cancun before moving to Walnut Creek three years ago. “I think it is a good law because not only can one move places in a safer way, but one will also be able to get insurance, and that also brings more safety.” Moreover, any person that would wish to apply for drivers license will have to get his consular ID from the embassy.
The Term Paper on Illegal Immigration Immigrants California Border
Throughout the united States of America there is a phenomena occurring in nine specific areas. These areas are known as the Nine Nations of North America. Contrary to what the title says of this phenomena the nine nations are nine different states within the United States of America. These states are California, New York, Texas, Florida, Nevada, New Mexico, New Jersey, Illinois, and Arizona but ...
This will ensure that the person is ok under the current law of his country. Critics say the law compromises national security. In a letter to Gov. Gray Davis, 20 members of the California Republican congressional delegation said the law “erodes our state’s ability to protect against terrorist attacks.” This issue also had some political background. The political rival of Davis, Arnold Schwarzenegger used his opposing position as one of the factors in his winning political game. He said that, once elected, he would try to repeal it.
His point of view is backed by the notion that drivers license is a privilege, rather than right, and those who break law by illegally accessing the territory of the United States must not be given any privileges. Such point of view is, of course, quite natural and understandable. However, let me review some other advocates arguments. “Illegals are more and more the engine that drives the economy,” says Art Pulaski, director of the California State Federation of Labor. “If they are hamstrung by having to get to work by bus in a state where very little public transportation exists, they are dramatically affecting the productivity of their companies.” This is true for many people who have to walk about one hour in the morning and another one in the evening after hard day at work every day just to keep earning their living. Most of them have families and kids who desperately need attention. Instead of investing free time to family, people invest in walking, accumulating dissatisfaction and anger.

Such order of things wont do any good to the economy. As you can see, the prohibitionists main argument about the access to all major privileges of the American citizens looks pale. The new licenses will have special identification signs. Moreover, illegal immigrants will have to get consular ID and pass the state exam. Moreover, it is not true that most of the immigrants are just soaking resources, instead, they provide substantial contribution to the economic development. Words: 702.
