Physical health: physical health is defined as is the condition of your body. The characteristics of physical health can include a few things but being at a good weight that is proportionate to their height is a good characteristic. Good physical health is when your body is functioning as it was designed to function. Working out and dieting is a part of being physically healthy. I try to work out almost every day to keep myself healthy because my eating habits are not too good.
Social health: The characteristics of social health are just physically being able to communicate with others and have some type of relationship such as a friendship or acquaintance. Social health is how you get along with other people, how other people react to you, and how you interact with society. I believe social health is important because it can also help you in your career and to live independently in throughout your adult life. I try to get out at least a 2 to 3 times a week to go out and meet people and have a good time. I feel like having friends and spending some time with are good for people like me who work full time and attend school.

Intellectual health: The characteristics of intellectual health stand out to me as someone who just has a bit of common sense about things. Intellectual health is not just academic knowledge. It also includes common sense, creativity and general knowledge. To be intellectually healthy, involves you in activities that increase knowledge, moral reasoning and mental agility. Being open to new ideas and seeking new challenges are important to your intellectual health. I am attending school and have a full time job so I feel like it helps me in obtaining my intellectual health.
Environmental health: The characteristics of environmental health are having respect for your world and to try in what other words means “go green”. Environmental health is your external environment and the roles individuals play in a person life. Your environment can range from where you work, to where you sleep at night and sometimes even the people in your life. Growing up I did not have the right role models in my life and I feel like it does follow people through their adult life and can even create issues if it the problem is not handles correctly.
Emotional health: emotional health is the ability to express emotions when they are appropriate. An emotionally healthy person has a relaxed body, an open mind and an open heart. The more emotional health you possess, the more self esteem you have. This means you do not frequently react with knee jerk responses, anxiety or panic to the events that occur in your life. I feel like I am emotionally healthy because I do not how to express my feelings in a positive way.
Spiritual health: Spiritual health is the way you find meaning, hope, comfort and inner peace in your life. Many people find spirituality through religion. Some find it through music, art or a connection with nature. Others find it in their values and principles. When you have a belief it gives you the feeling of unity and puts some value into your life. I feel like my spirituality has helped me gain my morals at a young age that I still believe in.

Many people have their own meaning for health and wellness. Your total well-being is a part of your health. To create a healthy life for yourself you should have or maintain the six dimensions of health. You can increase your life longevity by taking care of yourself physically. Try to exercise at least three to four times a week, see your doctor on a regular basis, and eating healthy is all a part of taking care of yourself. Eating the right things and exercising daily is very important if you want to stay healthy. When you feel good physically you feel good in every other aspect of your life. I’m sure you will get varying beliefs on what healthy is from this assignment. To me, health and wellness is taking care of the mind, body, and soul.
