we live in a society where man seems to have found a way to justify his actions to a world that readily accepts specious reasoning over bitter truths. honesty is hard to find not only becoz people have stopped believing that it is the ‘best policy’ but also becoz it is hard to accept the truth at times. in times such as these, we as people choose our leaders and representatives and want them to show us the way to a better universe. we like a sanguine view towards the future and prefer to turn a blind eye towards the impending dangers.
expediency has somehow been assumed by most to be a substitute for moral and ethical justification. the question ” what is right?” is now being replaced by “what is convenient and acceptable?” public officials represent the public and their needs. they r the voice of the society and such a voice should be able to speak the truth loud and clear. a leader is not a paragon but holds the responsibility of setting an example.
