Lynyrd Skynyrd is one of the most famous rock and roll bands in the United States. Its history is versatile and has different periods. It corresponds to both successful and pitiful moments in the careers of the musicians of this band. In fact, the history of Lynyrd Skynyrd starts in 1964 when a group of teen people did a good attempt to establish a new rock band driven by the worldwide tendencies in rock music at the time (lynyrd skynrd, 2010).
It was in the city of Jacksonville, Florida due to great pains of Ronnie Van Zant, Allen Collins, and Gary Rossington (lynyrd skynrd, 2010).
The group had different names at the outset.
They changed them each time they viewed a good opportunity to thrive in showbiz. Thus, the names of the band until it was finally called Lynyrd Skynyrd were as follows: “The Noble Five” (1964), “My Backyard” (1965) accompanied by Larry Junstrom and Bob Burns, “One Percent” (lynyrd skynrd, 2010).
However, the frontman of the band, Ronnie Van Zant was very industrious in coming up with a new name for the band in 1970. It is all about Leonard Skinnerd, a teacher of physical training in the school where members of the initial line-up studied, and who was strict at those boys bearing long hair at school (lynyrd skynrd, 2010).
This was a great push in the band’s overall resurrection in a very original name. Since 1972 Leonard Skinner (as they call it) was transformed into Lynyrd Skynyrd. The fame of the band was when they released the song “Free bird” (1973) and “Sweet Home Alabama” (1974) which were both on the Billboard top twenty charts (lynyrd skynrd, 2010).
The Essay on Rock Music Impact On Society
Rock Music Impact on Society Rock music has affected society in the twentieth century in a large way. Rock music started in the 1950s with various small bands such as Bill Haley and Elvis Presley. These pioneers of modern music drew a larger crowd at each show, and soon, rock music would be in the ears of almost every American. Rock and roll contributes many things back to people when they listen ...
In fact, the band had its own manager and some changes in the line-up. This was not a big deal for the band headed by Ronnie Van Zant, as its leader, but a way to find out juxtaposition with other talented musicians.
Cassie Gaines and Steve Gaines were those who made the music of Lynyrd Skynyrd that original and unique among such bands as The Rolling Stones and The Beatles (lynyrd skynrd, 2010).
Steve even assisted Ronnie in vocal parts. It was a great time of the band’s peak development or apogee. It is remarkable that during such fame and peak in the artistic work the band experienced several case of bad luck. It contemplates serious car accidents with Allen Collins and Gary Rossington in 1976 (lynyrd skynrd, 2010).
This was allegedly a sign for the band’s future.
Nevertheless, the enthusiasm in the band never lowered its flame, so to speak. There were many things to be done to make Lynyrd Skynyrd even more popular among the rock and roll bands of the United States over the years. The most glorious albums released by Lynyrd Skynyrd were the five: (Pronounced ‘Leh-‘nerd ‘Skin-‘nerd) – 1973 (2x platinum (USA); Second Helping – 1974 (2x platinum (USA); Nuthin’ Fancy – 1975 (Platinum (USA); Gimme Back My Bullets – 1976 (Gold (USA); Street Survivors – 1977 (2x platinum (USA) (lynyrd skynrd, 2010).
These sensational albums made the band well-known nationwide and worldwide.
Its discography was patterned by moving rhythms and beats. It was mostly owing to the songs included in the album Street Survivors which was the final for three musicians who died in the plane crash in 1977, namely: Ronnie Van Zant, Cassie and Steve Gaines. Even though, it was a heavy loss for the rest of the band and its fans, Lynyrd Skynyrd is still going on in releasing new albums and compilation but in a renewed line-up. Reference lynyrd skynrd.
