Student Teachers
Week 1
* Become familiar with the school.
* Observe in classroom(s).
* Assist with individual or small groups of students and classroom routines; discuss observations with Mentor Teacher.
* Co-plan and/or team-teach lessons with the Mentor Teacher.
* Plan and teach at least two lessons.
* Begin to assume some of the Mentor Teacher’s responsibilities in and out of class, up to 50% by week 3.
* Plan a process for reflections, e.g., daily conversations with Mentor Teacher, review of written Professional Reflections.
* Discuss Field Experience expectations with Mentor Teacher and University Facilitator.
* Arrange to obtain Program of Studies, resources required to teach lessons, information about students that will affect planning; develop an understanding of these materials.
* Structure and keep an organized Planbook. Share format with Mentor Teacher and University Facilitator.
* Begin to explore opportunities to interact with students, e.g., supervision, clubs, intramural sports
* Explore the role of a professional teacher.
* Reflect; consider basing your reflections on the components of the Midpoint Self-Evaluation.
* Meet with University Facilitator.
* Participate in cohort meeting with other Student Teachers.
Week 2
* Assume some of the Mentor Teacher’s responsibilities in and out of class, up to 50% by week 3.

* Meet with University Facilitator and attend weekly cohort meetings.
* Continue work on the School Project.
Week 4
* Increase teaching to 80% by week 6.
* Continue to observe in different settings.
* Reflect on experiences to date and complete draft Midpoint Self-Evaluation by end of Week 4 (to be complete early in week 5).
* Set goals for remainder of the Field Experience.
* Meet with University Facilitator and attend weekly cohort meetings.
* Continue ongoing written Professional Reflections.
* Continue work on School Project.
Week 5
* Increase teaching to 80% by week 6.
* Continue to observe in different settings.
* Complete Midpoint Self-Evaluation by beginning of Week 5. Provide Mentor Teacher and University Facilitator with completed evaluation.
* Meet with University Facilitator and attend weekly cohort meetings.
* Continue ongoing written Professional Reflections.
* Continue work on the School Project.
Week 6
* Increase teaching up to 80%.
* Continue to observe in different settings.

Week 8
* Maintain teaching up to 80%.
* Be nearing completion of the School Project.
* Begin to return classes to the Mentor Teacher as units are completed.
* Continue to observe in different settings.
* Continue to teach, assume professional responsibilities, grade students; work, and engage in other learning opportunities.
* Review and discuss final evaluation document with Mentor Teacher and University Facilitator.
* Provide Student Teacher comments for the final evaluation document
* Meet with University Facilitator and attend weekly cohort meetings.
* Consider final documents for the Professional Teaching Portfolio.
* Continue ongoing written Professional Reflections.
Week 9
* Move toward returning class(es) to the Mentor Teacher; teaching load reduces to approximately 50%, depending on commitments to ensure all materials and marking is completed. This may be an opportunity to be involved with team teaching, observing and teaching in other classes.
* Complete and return marking and grading records of student work in assigned units.
* Sign final evaluation document.
* Complete written Professional Reflections.
* Complete the School Project.
* Complete and update all items collected for a Professional Teaching Portfolio.
