drug abuse is one of the leading struggles that people face every day in society. There are different types of drugs rather it is a recreation drug, prescription or over the counter drug, either can cause a wear and tear on a human’s health. People have their own reasons for why they want to experience drugs. Some people tamer with recreational drugs for the first time out of curiosity. Their either are influence by friends and significant others and mostly start by watching family members growing up. Growing up in a city where there were drugs being sold on every corner and seeing close love ones addicted to drugs like cocaine and heroin I had a chance to witness firsthand the effect that drugs have on people. Physiologically, drug abuse alter the way people think, feel, and behave by disrupting neurotransmission, the process of communication between brain cells(Carl Sherman,2007).
People with drug addiction start to get agitate, they start to forget things, and they tend to indulge in abnormal behavior. People that abuse drugs will even go so far as committing an unlawful crime just to get that high that they are looking for. There are many effects that one can have when start abusing drugs like cocaine, heroin or alcohol. These are all called recreational drugs. You normally will find these types of drugs at neighborhood clubs or bars, frat parties, neighborhood corners in the community that you live in. When using a drug like cocaine, makes you energetic, talkative, weight lost, eye pupils are widen, scribble up tissues in the body and hypertension. When using a drug like heroin, loss of body hair, hypertension, drowsiness, collapse vines in the body from shooting through vines. Alcohol abuse can cause red eyes, dizziness, darken lips, failure of the kidneys. Many employers offer (EAP) employee assistant program, this program is design to help employees deal with drug abuse that causes lack of performance at their job. Services are offer in seminars, counseling services, and mandatory meetings until you reach a certain goal in which you understand, overcome and gain control over your addiction.

The relationship between mental health and tobacco, alcohol, or drug abuse, both have physiological conditions and symptoms that play a major role in abnormal thoughts, emotions and abnormal behavior toward self and others around them. Most people that abuse alcohol will most likely smoke or experience another recreational drug. When I was a smoker I found myself smoking more when I would have a cocktail or drink a glass of wine. I would never try another drug , it never cross my mind because of the things I witness as a little girl growing up with love ones who were addicted, I knew I would never experience such behavior, but di find nothing wrong with having a cocktail as long as it was controllable. I believe that abuse of drugs are serious and that if you see any signs or symptoms in love one or friends, I encourage that you recommend them to get help or give resources to them that will help them overcome their addiction.
