Suicide Bombers are known as Martyrs. They are all over the world and they all have their similarities and differences. In the New York Times article, “All Suicide Bombers Are Not Alike” by Joseph Lely veld has a lot of similarities and several differences with the main character Malli the suicide bomber in the movie “The Terrorist.” The NY Times article was written from place in Gaza, and Cairo. The movie was taken place in Sri Lanka. There are many similarities between Malli and the article. Being a Martyr is a pride to their country and to their family as the article said, “He is about to perform a great deed for his family, his people, and his faith…
.” Martyr does their suicide bombing not because they have psychological problems. They were not desperate people. Going all the way, they prove themselves to be selfless and brave. Malli wanted to be a Martyr because she wants to free her people and her country.
Malli also looked up to her brother also died as a Martyr it was like a proud thing to do. The leader said, “Be proud and brave” at her brother’s funeral. Also in the article, one of the Martyr’s family members was proud that the Martyr died and the neighbor congratulate that their son is going to be a Martyr. “All agree that someone who ended his life on their land in order to gain rights for his people was a martyr.” It is true in the movie too because she risk her life in the camp going off by her self to kill the soldier. In both they have suicide runs as like you been on the real mission and they basically brainwash you. The mission leader would brainwash you and tell you how great would this be if you die for the country and how proud everyone would be because of him / her .
Teen Suicide One Adolescent People
'Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.' ; I feel that it isn't the right solution, that there are other options. This is one reason why I chose teen suicide as my I-search topic. I have had personal experience with teen suicide involving my friends, and the next time that one of my friends comes to me saying, '; I want to die.' ; I want to be able to understand where they are ...
You usually get wish before you do your mission. In the article, the Martyr’s family would get a new apartment, jewelry, appliances, etc. Malli didn’t want anything, not even a nice dinner before the night she had to do her mission. She rather eats curry rice on a leaf with a person who she considered as a “father” Vasu. The differences in the movie and from the articles, “From the perspective of Gaza, there were then two kinds of suicide bombing: those that advance its cause and those that did not” In the movie, there are two kind of suicide bomber, if you success you are a hero.
If you failed to attempt, you are a traitor. Martyrs are not supposed to have feelings but in the movie Malli clearly had feelings for her lover that she always have flashback about him while she was taking a shower. She also felt that Lotus was a little brother to him. Vasu treated her as a part of his family and saying he will be the grandfather of the baby. Last but not least the baby, she does not want to kill the life of her and her lover’s.
She would probably have no trouble pressing the trigger if she didn’t have the baby. In the movie, they said once you die it’s a long sleep. But in the article it said once a Martyr completed their mission they will be going straight to heaven. In the scene of Lotus and Malli, Malli killed the soldier from behind and Lotus called her a Murderer. It was shocking to Malli that one of her “people” calls her a murderer. Not everyone supports Suicide bombing but in Gaza about 78 percent of the people support suicide bombing.
It is quite a big portion of the population supports suicide bombing. But not all people support it. In the movie, when they were doing the interview of who wants to be the Martyr. Everyone wanted to take the mission because it was a proud thing to do In conclusion, it doesn’t matter where you from all suicide bombers have their differences and similarities. As you can see from the movie “The Terrorist” and the NY Times Article “All Suicide Bomber are not alike.” How can their family be proud of what they are doing? By using their own life to kill people.
Movie Review of Paradise Now
Paradise Now has received much attention and recognition, and the reasons for this run long. First, it deals with a very timely and sensitive topic – suicide bombing. This interest must have fueled the rise to ...
I hope there aren’t suicide bombers no more but I know it’s not going to happen after what I read and what I saw on the movies. Suicide bomber is almost becoming a religion. Let’s hope nothing like the September 11 th incident would ever happen again.
