Throughout history, many philosophers have wondered about the reason of earth’s roundness, the moon’s shape, the sun rising and the sunset or maybe just the reason of being here on earth. Most of them have made their own hypothesis and even created theories. Nowadays there are few people that philosophize; there is no need. We have everything solved, if we wonder about the sun’s size we look up in the encyclopedia or check out our 4 th grade geography book. To be astonished is to strike with surprise or wonder, to question anything about anything; I may not make my self clear; it is like when babies think the sky will fall down, or when each time babies see a dog pass by they get excited. I insist about babies, because they are the only ones who don’t know it all; once we grow up we stop getting amazed, we get used to phenomena, we do not feel that the world will tumble down once the sun sets, we do not think there is a vertical limit at the horizon, we do not believe that there is a treasure at the end of the rainbow.
When we watch movies for example, we do not get scared watching “Scream” or “I know what you did last summer”; we do not pay attention at the special effects in “Star Wars” or “The lord of the rings”, maybe our parents do, but new generations haven’t even seen a black and white movie. So Philosophy is the study of the principles of human behavior and reasoning about what we really know of ourselves and the universe, to what we seem to know; it is just a person’s view of life and principles of conduct. We must be amazed or astonished to philosophize about someone’s behavior or about phenomena; that is the break point. So from now on, when we ask ourselves something and we start making our theories, it means we are -in a certain way- a philosopher.
