I IIDEX/NeoCon Canada is the country’s largest exposition and conference for the design and management of interior environments. Attracting 14, 000 from the design industry and business community each year, IIDEX (R) /NeoCon (R) Canada delivers the latest products, exceptional programming, special industry events and unlimited networking opportunities. Whether its workplace, retail, healthcare, residential, hospitality or sustainable design – it is amazing to know that the products, people and solutions all come together at IIDEX/NeoCon Canada. At the show there were numerous companies that contributed to the Green and Sustainable Design. Green and Sustainable design: o Green Design: a design that protects people’s health and well-being (e.
g. , indoor air quality enhancement, use of ‘natural’ products, safer environments for people with allergies, asthma, or MCS).
o Sustainable Design: a design that protects the global environment and the world’s ecosystems for future generations (e. g.
alternative energy sources, rain forest protection, resource depletion).
Sustainable Design Objectives: To reduce, minimize, diminish or to eliminate air / weather pollution, urban sprawl, urban heat island, environmental resource depletion, deforestation, global warming, ozone depletion, CO 2 emissions, sick building syndrome, indoor air pollutants. An interior designer is qualified by education, experience, and examination to enhance the function and quality of interior spaces. The designers help improve the quality of life. As a professional designer it is important for me to analyze the client’s need, goals and life and safety requirements. I learned to understand the well-being of individuals and the environment.
The Term Paper on Creating a Sustainable Environment
The terms Sustainable and Sustainability are used to describe many different approaches toward improving our way of life. Sustainability is a way to develop the environment without harming it, creating a system that keeps its self-feasible for future needs. Thus, sustainability means taking the long-term view of how our actions affect future generations and making sure we do not deplete resources ...
For instance, getting rid of hazards to create a good environment; understanding of emotions, motivations, moods, satisfaction or people; choosing Green life products for my clients. Sustainable and Green Design presents opportunities for designers to develop a more environmentally and socially conscious design choice. I learned the importance of resources, and how to reuse and recycle content. I also learned about products which make our environment clean.
For example, OM NOVA protects the safety and health of their employees and preserves and protects the environment. Another good example is of INTERFACE (carpet tiles): Through maintenance, reuse, re purposing or recycling, Interface leads the industry in avoiding permanent disposal of carpet. Thus, the exhibition was a great experience. I was exposed to new materials, textures, colours, concepts, trends and designs of 2004. As a first year student I feel privileged to have visited the show. I learned and met people who knew what they were talking about.
It was informative and an excellent way of learning about new trends and styles. IIDEX (R) /NeoCon (R) Canada was a marvellous experience which has opened my mind to new ideas and fashions.
