Paul, MN 55155 Dear Mr. Governor: The reason I am writing this in relation to our study of Henry David Thoreau. I live in the little town of Carlton just south of Duluth. The real problem I have and never had much of a chance to address is that I am under 18 and have all the restrictions and have to pay the same amount in taxes as older people. I work at McDonald? s, and I pay as much as adults. I even pay more than other adults without kids.
I could gross a $180 dollar check and only get about $130 dollars net. Yet another employee over 18 and single would get $150 dollars net. Then when I got my tax returns, we got about the same. I don? t think this is right.
I even make less per hour than him. I can work at a job and have taxes taken out; I can also drive, yet I can? t vote. That is not right. Part of my money goes to you officials, and I can’t choose who you are when you decide these taxes. Now please tell me what is right. Sincerely, Kyle Valcour t.
