My husband and I have struggled for years just to make ends meet and pay the bills. Our bills are always a month behind, though we do manage to always keep our utilities from being shut off, and we have always kept food on the table and clothes on our families back, however there has never been extra money to thoroughly enjoy life. Vacations have never been something we could take. We have always lived paycheck to paycheck. Obtaining my college degree will have many benefits such as enabling my family to have a much easier life and it will also teach our kids the importance of a higher education.
In this essay I am going to discuss the benefits I will gain by obtaining my college degree and how my life and the life of my family will become better. The first and most crucial benefit I will gain by getting my college degree is that I will be able to get a career in the journalism or mass communications field. This will increase our income greatly. We will no longer have to struggle just too have the necessities of life. We will also have the extra money to take a family vacation. If we are not struggling just to get by our life will be much more fulfilling and enjoyable.
The next benefit will be that my kids will understand how important I feel an education is. Because we have struggled so long without that education, once I get the education and our life improves they will know it takes more of an education than a high school education to make life easier. I do not want my kids to spend twenty plus years struggling like we have. I want them to know that life does not have to be such a struggle just to pay the bills or buy food. I want my children to have an easier life than we did. I want them to enjoy life and the job they have.
The Term Paper on Blacks History In Education Struggle part 1

If you get an education in a field that interests you, going to work will not be such a dreaded experience. The benefits I will gain from my degree will show them that they too can have those same benefits by simply getting a degree in a field that interests them. Another benefit I will gain from getting my degree is that I will feel better about myself. This was something I always wanted to do and attempted a couple times when I was younger. I always gave up before I completed the degree. I have always felt bad about myself for not having the will power and drive to stick with it and complete the degree.
Now that I am older I know that life could have been so much easier if I would have stuck with it and got my education. I was feeling like a failure because I did not do this. I felt at forty-four I was too old to try now to better myself. In October I finally realized some things in life our important to complete no matter what your age is. The old saying is “Better late than never. ” This saying holds true for a college education. As we head towards our golden years I do not want to spend the rest of my life struggling. I want to retire and have some benefits to make life easier in our old age.
In the process it will help my kids realize they need to do it as soon as possible, and not wait until later in life like I did. It is fine to tell kids that they need to do this and do that because it will make life easier on them. But they most likely will not listen unless they see proof of it. By obtaining my degree I will be showing them the proof they need to see it is the best way to have a better life. If even just one of my kids go on to college because they saw me do it and saw the benefits I got out of it I will feel much better about myself and what I encouraged them to do.
