There once was a boy who tended his fathers sheep. The father was very protective about his boy and his sheep. He gave his son a horn and told him that if the sheep or himself were ever in trouble to blow the horn as loud as he could and the men of the village would come right away to help in the emergency. One day the boy was up on a mountainside tending his fathers sheep and he was getting tired of watching the sheep. He wondered how long it would take the men of the village to come to the rescue. He blew the horn as loud as he could and the men from the village came running to see what the emergency was. When the men asked the boy what was wrong he said that he was testing them to see how long it would take for them to get there.
The men went back down to the village angry that the boy called a false alarm. A few days later the boy did it again and the men came running. This time they were really angry at the boy for taking time out of their work to come to his call when it was not even an emergency. The village men decided that the next time the boy blew the horn they all would not come running to help because he is just doing it for some attention. Well sure enough the next day the village men heard the horn again and they paid no attention to it. Up on the mountain the boy was blowing the horn because he was really in trouble. There was a wolf running around attacking the sheep.
If the boy had not abused the privilege of the horn before, then the village men would have came running to help the boy who cried wolf.
