One of the most famed inventions since the late 1800’s was the automobile. The car has revolutionized transportation from the day a company named “Reo” sold its first car, the Curved Dashed Oldsmobile in 1901, to today.
The topic of cars can be broken into many different categories, from SUV and sports to European and American. One maker of cars that has branched a lot in past years is Japan. Though we do not realize it, most of our cars come from Japan. The top car company as of 2011 is Toyota.
Toyota is a Japanese automobile manufacturer that exports its cars all around the world. Japanese cars can be sub classified into three categories. These different branches of cars are owned by many people across Japan and the United States of America. Sports, casual and rally cars are the three main branches of Japanese cars.
What is a rally car? To answer this we must first know what rallying is. Rallying is a form of motor competition that takes place on public or private roads with modified production or specially built road-legal cars.
These modified production or specially built road-legal cars are called rally cars. Rally cars are sold to the public, but the ones used for the sport of rallying are specially modified to accelerate faster, handle turns better and grip the road more for competition.
The ones sold to the public are still somewhat equal to the modified versions. One of the biggest manufacturers of rally cars is Subaru. Subaru make many cars but specializes in rally. One of the most famous rally cars is the Subaru Wrx Sti. This car is designed and manufactured in Japan then exported to America. Subaru made its first Sti in 1991 since then it has been used in rallying and everyday driving.

The sports car is the car that every kid grows dreaming about. Europe make cars that do satisfy the requirements to be a sports car, but the price of most of are too expensive to be bought by most. Japan makes sports cars that are also amazing and are still affordable. One Japanese sports car was made big by a well know movie 2 Fast
2 Furious. In this movie the main character drives a Nissan Skyline Gtr. The Skyline has much more speed and handling for its price and is a worthy buy compared to many European sports cars. Nissan made its first Skyline Gtr in 1989. This car has progressed over years and found itself as an icon and dream car for many.
The last subcategory of Japanese cars is the casual cars. So, what is a casual car? A casual car is just a car that you use just to get you from point “A” to point “B”. Casual cars usually don’t have the fastest speeds or the flashiest frame, but they usually have the latest technological innovations that make life easier or more comfortable. An example of a new technological innovation in cars would be how now some cars can parallel park themselves.
Many people hate parallel parking so having this in their cars makes people’s lives easier. The most selling casual car in America as of February 2011 is the Toyota Camry. The fourth, sixth, seventh and tenth most selling cars were manufactured by Toyota, Honda and Nissan, which are all Japanese. Wherever you drive you will see Japanese cars all around you. You could even be driving a Japanese made car and not know it.
