To the pluses of using a computer I may consider that it is very convenient, you can use it for doing a lot of tasks. The cons of a PC are that people became lazier and that the machines replace people at their working places. Now I will be specific on each pro and con. Firstly, the pluses. Nowadays computers became an essential part of our lives. We use them almost everywhere: while preparing for our lessons or searching a new film in the Internet or making a presentation about the work which you have done. The computer actually makes our lives easier.
You don’t need a lot of paper while writing an essay for example. You may just delete an inappropriate thought and not throw away the whole sheet of paper. Today a laptop is the most widely used type of a computer. It is very convenient – you may take it everywhere you want because it does not take much place. For example if you are travelling by plane you may use your laptop for watching a film, and then the flight will seem to you shorter. The latest statistic data by Hewlett-Packard (an American multinational information technology corporation) says that to date people buy 63,5% of laptops.

Now let’s consider the cons of using a computer. As I wrote before people became lazier with the beginning of the Era of Computer Technology. We got used to the fact that we may do almost everything without leaving our house. We do the shopping, watch movies and communicate with our friends in front of our computer. Some of us prefer surfing the Net to going outside.
Most of people especially teens get addicted to the computers. Overweight, psychological and health problems are the results of such addiction. Of course, using a computer is fine, but we should know when to stop. The next serious con about computers for me is the fact that they began to replace people at their working places. Nowadays computer technology is widely used at different factories, offices, schools and etc. For example huge companies which produce cars have almost gave up man power. Machines are doing all the work and computers take charge of the process.
We can make a conclusion that in some years people will not have the place to work at. Therefore there will be a great level of unemployment in the world as a result of applying computer technologies. To finish my essay I’d like with the words by an American human–computer interface expert Jef Ruskin: “Right now, computers, which are supposed to be our servant, are oppressing us. ” To my mind this saying is the best description of today’s situation with the computer technology. We should reconsider our attitude to the Era of Computers in order to save the human relationships.
