Studying the Effect of types of Food on a Betta Fish’s growth Introduction: Before you consider buying an animal or pet for the first time, you should probably to some research on that animal as we did. It’s very important to know what they eat, their environment, and also what you shouldn’t do for the health and safety of your fish. For instance, our fish cannot eat regular goldfish food. We wanted to test out how the types of food effect the growth. As a control, we went for something that has no special ingredients or enriched contents for benefits but still edible for the fish. Different foods have different vitamins that help them with different things so you need to go basic to see a difference. The first fish has regular fish food pebbles, ZooNed micro floating Betta Pellets. Next we found a flakey food that was said to be “nutritionally balanced diet for optimal health, vivid color and vitality”. Tetramin Tropical Flakes was fed to the second fish. For the third fish, we couldn’t find another food with different vitamins. Instead we fed him half of the regular pellets and half of the flakey food.
Background: Betta fish are a fish like no other. As stated before, you CANNOT feed a Betta fish goldfish food. Over feeding a Betta fish is a common problem for its health. Betta fish will each whatever you give them. If they’re full half way through the food, they’ll eat the rest. This can eventually kill them or just make them fat. While it is only as small amount, you only need to feed them once a day. It is okay for a bunch of females to live in the same tank but for males, it can be bad. These male fish fight each other to protect their “territory”. For the sake of this project, we kept them all in a different tank anyways so we know what fish is which, and because we weren’t sure the genders. A filter is an optional thing but we decided not to have them. In the store, they come separately in a little plastic cup. Hypothesis: The fish that was given the flakey vitamin enriched food would grow the most and fast than the fish with just the plain pellet food. Procedure
The Essay on The Effects of Fast Food on Health
There are so many restaurants around the world today that could severely harm your health. Fast food has so many bad side effects such as: obesity, high cholesterol levels, and food poisoning. You could say that there are way more bad side effects than good side effects from obtaining fast food. Obesity has been ranked the number one health threat to Americans and causes up to 400,000 deaths a ...
1. Go to the pet store! But three fish and 3 fish bowls if you don’t already have them. 2. Measure them before you start your project. Our
fish came in little 1 cup, cups. * Measure how much water is in the cup
* Subtract that from the weight by pushing the “0” button * Add the fish use that weight
OR
* Measure the fish with the cup. Just be sure all the cups have the same amount of water in them. 1 cup of water is about 230 grams
3. Feed your fish! (5 pellets/ 2 flakes crushed/ 3 pellets and 1 crushed flake) ** Be sure to measure your fish every 2 days and also feed them around the same time to keep things consistent. 4. Clean your tanks! It’s important to at least clean tem once a week. I found that that wasn’t enough for me so I cleaned it about every 3 days. 5. Repeat this care to your fish over a 14 day period. Don’t forget to measure! 6. On the 14th day you want to measure your fish one last time. You want that so you are able to compare you beginning weight to your ending weight. 7. Compare! Use your growth chart to compare with day 1 and also with the other fish 8. If you would like, continue your experiment
Data:
| Fish 1| Fish 2| Fish 3|
Day 2| 237| 241| 239|
Day 4| 237.4| 241| 237|
Day 6| 236| 239| 236|
Day 8| 238| 240| 237|
Day 10| 238| 241| 237|
Day 12| 237.6| 241| 239|
Day 14| 238| 241| 240|
Analysis: We found out that over a two week time span, these fish do not show significant growth. I don’t think for your project the time period we had was logical but, I do think that the food did have a change on the visual appearance and other benefits. They all fluctuated in weight at one point in the 2 weeks. Fish 1 grew 1 gram. Fish 2 stayed the same, and fish 3 grew 1 gram. Errors: There were many errors and mishaps during these 2 weeks! There were about 2 times I forgot to feed the fish or either the feedings didn’t occur on the same time each day. I recommended cleaning the tanks at least 1 time a week because the first week that’s what we did. After that week I felt like I shouldn’t wait a whole week to clean the take just so that the water was fresh.
The Essay on Boyhood Days Life Time Memories
The poem "Fern Hill" by Dylan Thomas explores childhood memories and the melancholy reality of lost youth. "Fern Hill" compels the reader to come back over and over again to seek more insight into the joy and pleasure of a time of innocence lost. The figurative speech causes the reader to seek the elusive youth and boyhood days of the character and encourages the reader to mourn and celebrate with ...
We decided to clean them every 3 days because the water got really dirty, really fast. One of the fish would bang against the tank at night after he finished his food. I thought maybe the portion wasn’t enough for him so I fed him more. (DON’T DO THAT!!) We REJECTED our hypothesis because we had a lot of errors and that could’ve put our growth off. Both the all flake/ all pellets had the same growth. The 2nd fish stayed the same. We also thought that if we looked more into the type of fish that grows fast and shows significant growth. Maybe the Betta fish wasn’t the right option. We could’ve also researched how long it would take for them to grow so we could stretch our experiment out longer.
