The issue of illegal immigrants in the United States has sparked a lot of controversy among those alike and politicians. With such a widely discussed topic and a lot of debate illegal immigrants serve as much purpose in the United States as any other legal citizen. Often times they are just here to make a better life for their families and themselves. Not all illegal immigrants migrate to the U.S for the same reason such as to sell drugs or to be a burden to the U.S. economy. Some of these immigrants just want to work and be successful like many Americans. In other words, they want to experience the American dream, which is to work hard and obtain some kind of riches and in order to do that they would have to obtain some sort of job.
A company will benefit from the illegal status of a migrant who is desperate for work and therefore prepared to accept poor pay, usually below local norms. Hiring an illegal worker also brings the employer the advantage of paying less in the way of welfare contributions and other nonwage costs. The “welfare magnet” of illegal immigration is much stronger for the company than for the worker, whose precarious situation and low bargaining power makes him highly vulnerable to discriminatory practices in the form of longer hours and nonpayment of various bonuses, or even of wages. For many undocumented immigrants the underground economy is the only means of finding a job (Tapinos 35-37).
Illegal Immigrants – Essay 2
... cheap labor, could benefit American economy, and reducing crime. Illegal immigrants work on farms and in industries with substandard wages. Even ... long hours in important industries.” It means that illegal immigrants work more hours in hard jobs which are not taken ... because Americans deserve decent jobs at decent wages. Again illegal immigrants work for minimum wage which could drop the cost of ...
When a company hires illegal immigrants not only do these companies benefit off the fact that illegal immigrants are willing to work long hours for lesser pay but also because they are very hard workers. In most cases companies often times believe that they work much harder than most Americans. Given the fact that they are willing to work so hard for little pay employers are willing to accept their illegal status and give them a job, benefiting both the employer and the immigrant.
Being in the United States illegally was not some of these immigrants’ choices but their parents. Being smuggled into the country at a young age can be a hassle for most of these children, especially when it’s time for them to attend a college or University. Finishing high school and wanting to go to college would cost money, money of which the government won’t supply them with. For example “Texas is one of 10 states that allow some undocumented students to pay in-state tuition and one of only a few that also makes them eligible for state financial. Critics argue that offering publicly supported higher education to undocumented students rewards their parents for entering the country illegally.”(Mangan 8-10).
I understand the fact that their parents have to be punished for their actions but, don’t take it out on the children. Getting a proper education is every child’s dream especially, when they have grown to realize the kind of lifestyle their parents had when they were growing up.
Most of these illegal aliens are seen as terrorist in most American eyes after the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11. There is no reason why they shouldn’t feel that way because it was foreigners who committed the crime, but, like I said others should not have to take responsibility for other people’s actions. “The fact that the terrorists of 9/11 were not US citizens and had — according to the following investigation — been living in Europe as students for years, seemed to justify a certain “state of general suspicion” (of being a terrorist) against all foreigners.”(Saux 58).
It should not be that way but it is and illegal immigrants have to suffer from the fact that other people came to the United States with other intentions and now they have to face the consequences. If illegal immigrants were such a burden to the U.S economy and are considered terrorist in most eyes why let them come here in the first place is the question I ask on a daily basis. These people are just like any other foreigner trying to make something of themselves and should be given the right to do so without being discriminated.
The Essay on The Benefits Of Illegal Immigrants
Are illegal immigrants or undocumented immigrants beneficial to America’s economy? Most illegal immigrants have a positive impact on the United States (U.S.) economy. Illegal immigrants have a positive impact on the United States economy because they increase our tax revenue, they add to our social security, and they also increase our employment rates.” In 2000, statistics revealed 8.7 million ...
