The 2004 Elections The U.S. presidential elections that took place in 2004 marked the victory of the Republican Party. Although both candidates emphasized on feel good issues, competence, leadership and values, it appears that emphasis on foreign policy, especially Bushs attitude to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, and his strategy on the war on terrorism has led to the victory of the Republican Party. During the elections, the Republicans focused attention on basic truths, asserting that they are committed to fulfillment of Lincolns vision, namely, a free and united country, where all citizens are guaranteed opportunity to pursue their dreams and equal rights. They focused attention on the Presidents leadership, the commitment to allies, the plans to bring terrorists to justice and secure homeland. Bush managed to lower taxes so that the citizens were able to keep more of their earned money thus growing the U.S. economy and putting the U.S. citizens back to work.
They claimed that the President managed to strengthen Medicate and give senior population better choices to meet their health care needs. Finally, the Republicans asserted that their platform addresses the most important problems facing the United States, such as the war on terrorism, providing more opportunities for workers and their families, protecting families, building innovative economy and enabling the country to compete with anyone and anywhere, keeping the United States on the cutting edge of commerce and technology, strengthening communities, to mention a few.
