If president Bill Clinton is in fact impeached it will affect the future of this country very profoundly. The main affect it will have is on future politics. Probes into political leader s lives will be more common and sexual issues will be the number one issue. If impeachment takes place it will set a new standard for future presidents, and they better watch out because it will be a lot easier to impeach them after this. For such a minor offense to bring on impeachment hearings is in my opinion astounding because in the constitution it states that high crimes and misdemeanors warrant impeachment not sexual blunders. The amusing thing about this controversy is that it is not about how Mr. Clinton lied in court or with held information, it is about politics. The republicans have been out to get Mr. Clinton for years now and this is their perfect chance to dominate the presidential election in 2000. The republicans will not let this issue go because they want in to drag on to the elections where by that time the American public will be so upset by the whole thing they will vote for a republican president. It is politics pure and simple, and if they get away with it then it will set a new standard for how the government is run.
No longer will elections be fair because each party will unleash all their probes and accusations that will destroy any potential candidate. It is frustrating to watch this whole event unfold because it is so evident to me why this scandal continues to go on. It is all based on politics and getting elected, no one will let this drop even though it is costing the American public millions of dollars. President Clinton is not the evil one in this battle it is the republican agenda and Kenneth Starr. It is also the American public who have egged on this whole fight and have bought in to it as if it was a real important issue. Future politics will be very grim if this is allowed to happen any more no longer will decent men run for presidency because they will be too worried about being torn apart by the opposing party.
The Term Paper on Politics, Presidents and War
War is inevitably an exercise in politics. In the best case the political process provides checks and balances that can contain or even prevent war.
