It passed five years already when Nora slammed the door behind her. She still can hear that slam. It was the most difficult decision that had to be made so fast. She was not realizing fully the consequences of her action. She could loose her children. Torvald could ban her from visiting them. She had to do it. She did not know any other way of persuasion. It was desperate act of self-defense.
Nora had some savings that her father left. She used the money wisely. After a few weeks of getting used to real world she found some office job. The job was simple and gave her a work ethic lesson. Few months later Christine got her job at the same bank but different brunch. Nora was skeptical about that job because she did not want to take a chance to meet Torvald. Although the marriage was over she still had fillings for him. Torvald let see her children but only under Anne supervision.
Nora was successfully climbing the ladder of career. It took her three years to become vice director of the brunch. She wanted to be the first director and she had every qualification to become one. However director become a man with no qualifications who did not have good record as businessman. Nora saw that as discrimination and established club for professional businesswoman. She wanted to help women to stop discrimination against them. Years later the club become international organization with Maria Curie as president.
As vice director of the brunch she had a few meetings where she had to see and talk with Torvald. The meetings were very painful for her, although now she was independent woman deep inside her she wanted to be Torvald’s little girl. She noticed on the meetings that Torvald was glancing at her. They started to talk not only about business but also about daily things. They started to communicate.

One day Nora found out from Christine that Torvald is in deep trouble. He authorizes transaction for his old friend. His friend did not paid back the loan on time. The consequences of his action would be severe for him. Somehow he had to cover it up for three days. The only way he could do that was to take loan from bank’s brunch where Nora was already a director. He came to Nora for forgiveness and for help.
Nora remembering what he has done for her…helped him. She signed the papers authorizing Torvald to take a loan she risked her career. She did it for her children and for herself to prove her courage. She was extraordinary woman who did not snap in difficult situation.
Torvald’s future:
On the other hand for Torvald it was shocking therapy that worked very well. When Nora left he was angry. He cold not comprehend that his “songbird” left the nest without his permission. With time he started to realize that his wife is not poor, defenseless, little Nora. When Nora was hired in his bank, the news hit him hard. Torvald woke up; he started to see Nora as an independent, intelligent woman. The absence of his beloved wife was tearing his heart. However, he could not to force himself to ask Nora for forgiveness. Slowly he started realize how cowardly he behaved.
Children missed her although Anne was taking good care of them. Torvald was never home and when was at home he was working. Children knew Torvald only from the breakfasts and rarely suppers.
Inevitable had to came. He saw Nora on one of the business meetings. It was the awkward situation they had to actually speak to each other about business. The have not spoken for past three years.
The meetings established some relationship between them to the point they weren’t uncomfortable to speak to each other. Torvald was following Nora’s career with carefulness.
One day his dear friend run into troubles, he needed to borrow large amount of money. Torvald lent him the money, hoping it will go unnoticed. The loan should be paying back in three days. It was not. His friend extended pay back. It was unacceptable for Torvald. The board of governors would find out about the loan. He would be ruined.
