The book is a prelude to ‘The Lord of the Rings’. The main character is Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit. The book is just another ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘C. S.
Lewis’s tory. The plot is nicely written and the use of words is in high standard. However, the descriptions for each of the events are too long. Sometimes I will feel boring. As a matter of fact, I don’t enjoy the book too much and I would rather pick another book to read. Back to the book, the thesis of this story is ‘fellowship’.
For example, if you do a project all by yourself and you don’t need the help of others, your project might be good, but not as fabulous as the ones which are done in groups. This totally applies to Bilbo. Hadn’t he got the help of his friends, he won’t succeed in getting the treasure. Plus, in the treasure hunt, he and his friends had to face a certain amount of challenges. They sometimes argue, but that is not really a bad thing becase you learn what other people think and you see things in a whole new light. Finally, they succeed.
That proves helping and supporting each other at hard times are absolutely essential. This book also encourages us to find our hidden talents. Since Bilbo was a hobbit, the didn’t trust him at first and reckoned he was troublesome. They didn’t realize he was smart until he saved their lifes from the trolls.
So, we shouldn’t look down upon people and make remarks at first sight. Overall, the book is okay, it will appear to be interesting for those who haven’t seen a lot of tra sure hunt stories. To me, it was just another fantasy.
