The movie Catch Me If You Can is about Frank Abagnale Jr who is a famous check fraud. In the movie you see frank play many different roles in scams and can see how he made millions by writing fraud checks. The movie shows how easy it was to fraud checks during that time period. The story of Frank Abagnale is very interesting. Even though the movie Catch Me if You Can is fiction the real story is very cool also.
The real story of Frank Abagnale Jr is similar yet different to the story of Catch Me If You Can. The movie portrays that Frank had played a substitute teacher had a school that he was attending while in real life Frank was a teaching assistant at Brigham Young University which was a college and Frank taught sociology. Also in the movie Frank is almost given up as a doctor when he is exposed to a broken bone by a child while in real life he was nearly exposed when an infant almost died from oxygen deprivation because he had no idea what a nurse meant when she said there was a “blue baby.” Once frank was captured he faced many consequences, he served time in three countries including Sweden, France, and Italy before returning to the United states and getting sentenced to 12 years in federal prison on many counts of forgery.

Frank served 5 years in prison then started working with the FBI. Now Frank is still working with the FBI in training their newest members of fraud and forgery. Frank own Abagnale & Associates which is one of the world’s check security companies. Frank is credited with making many of the security features found on checks today. I liked the movie Catch Me If You Can very much. I thought the movie was very interesting and suspenseful. My favorite part of the movie had to have been when Frank just got married and is at the after party at Brenda’s house when the FBI arrive and Frank runs upstairs and pulls out all these suitcases of money. I thought that part was very funny because it shows how Frank was keeping his money and how much money he was actually making. I thought the movie was very good and it helped me learn a lot about checks and forgery.
The movie Catch Me If You Can has many connections to finance and business literacy. Chapter 5 of the class has to do mainly with checks and the different components of checks like routing number, account number, and signature. In the movie you see how Frank Abagnale was able to manipulate the checks components to his own good and gives a good example of what those components mean and stand for. The movie demonstrates what a routing number is and what it stands for. The movie was very helpful to my understanding of chapter 5.
In conclusion, Catch Me If You Can was a very good movie that I would recommend to many people. The movie teaches a lesson on checks and forgery. The movie also tells a very fun and interesting story of a real life con artist. I enjoyed the movie a lot. I think every student taking finance and business literacy should watch the movie so they too can get a better understanding of checks and how they work.
