The paper analyzes the benefits of ANCC and NCC certification for nurses. The aim of the paper is to obtain knowledge about each certification. Comparing two certification programs will help me to decide which certification program I should pursue. Outline Introduction Discussion Certification and recertification process Advantages and disadvantages for the individual nurse to be certified Advantages for the organization where the nurse works Web Site Critique Magnet Status Process by which an organization goes through to achieve magnet status Advantages of being an organization that has achieved Magnet Status Conclusion Decision Credentialing Assignment 2 Nowadays, nurse certification is important for successful medical career. Two nurse credentialing programs discussed in this paper are ANCC certification and NCC certification. Each of them has advantages and disadvantages. ANCCs (American Nurses Credentialing Center) certification examinations are divided into two categories: some exams are computer-based and others are hand-written.
In order to start examination process, one should decide first which exam will be taking. Before the start of certification examination it is mandatory to comply with basic eligibility requirements, possess information about description of practice and about specific eligibility requirements for each description of nursing practice. Certificates issued by ANCC are accredited by two American national organizations – the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS) and the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
The Essay on Advanced Nurse Practitioners
Advanced nurse practitioners (ANPs) require highly developed and extensive knowledge in “diagnostics, therapeutics, the biological, social and epidemiological sciences and pharmacology, and their enhanced skills in areas such as consultation and clinical decision-making” (Duke, 2012, p.1027). As such, it is imperative that nurses assuming an advance practice role are equipped and capable of ...
An application form should be submitted along with other required forms and required documents. Successful candidates for certification are permitted to participate in one free verification request. Additional verifications are fee based. Candidates for certification renewal should hold an active registered nurse license valid in the United States, meet specific professional development requirements such as have one thousand hours of nursing practice in the field of certification specialty or pass the examination. Candidates who intend to renew their certificate having one thousand hours of practice should have the practice occurred while holding already registered license. Care of family members or friends is not counted into practice.
ANCC is the largest nursing credentialing organization in the United States; therefore, holding ANCCs certificate is beneficial. Certifying as a nurse can have many positive effects on the career. People are confident about a nurses professional ability and skills. The most important is that a nurse certificate is accepted everywhere throughout the United States. The ANCC certificate is the perfect proof of a holders knowledge in nursing and his/her dedication to nursing as a serious profession. Moreover, certified nurses potentially have higher wages. The only disadvantage of ANCC certification is the desire of organizations to employ nurses holding ANCC certificate.
Organizations that employ certified nurses have higher level of trust among clients. I find ANCCs website somewhat not comfortable enough to use. Some of the links do not work. However, the information is well prepared to inform the reader about nurse certification process and its benefits. NCC (The National Certification Corporation) is similar to ANCC. It offers nursing certifications.
NCC ceritificates differ from ANCC certificates, because NCC certificates belong to highest standards for private cerfitifcation. (NCC online) NCC qualification process is similar to ANCCs; however, a candidate should have at least two thousand hours of nursing practice and current license as a registered nurse. Magnet status of an organization recognizes the caliber of the nursing staff, and what that professionalism translates into in terms of patient care and health care services. (ANCC) Magnet status is a solid proof of the organizations nursing program quality as well it means that the organization passed The Magnet Recognition Program. An organization that applies for the Magnet status should achieve leadership in nursing, specific standards for nurse administrators; qualify for protected feedback procedures and fair labor practices. The organization should collect specific nurse practice indicators that are identified in the Magnet manual.
The Essay on Senior Nurse Nurses Nursing Work
When she came to UK to work, she was on a rollercoaster of emotions -- scared, excited, confident, insecure, homesick... Scared of what she will be encountering-culture shock, different nursing style, language barrier (multiple accents), state-of-the-art equipment (touch screen monitors, arterial lines, swan ganz catheters, intra-aortic balloon pumps, echo- a lung bypass machine, nitric oxide, ...
Magnet Recognition Program empowers organizations to employ high-quality nursing personnel. It also provides a competitive advantage for organizations. I decide to participate in the ANCC certification program, because it offers equal employment opportunities comparing to NCC. ANCC certificates are accredited by ABNS and NCCA, which is very important for me. I believe I will succeed as a nurse with the help of ANCC certification and will be able to work everywhere in the United States, which is convenient.
