As we near the end of the twentieth century the use of guns has changed significantly in a rate that no person could possibly imagine. Because of this fast and steady increases in crime, the fight for the right to own a hand gun has been a hotly debated issue in the recently years. The right to bear arms goes way back to when the second amendment was first passed. Certainly people have been using all this type of weapons available to fight crime or commit them. Although other kind of persons don’t agree that gun control is necessary for the safety of the individuals that are in favor of it, regulating the distribution and sales of illegal guns is needed because of the homicides and other kind of bad use of these dangerous firearms, this regulations can help reduce the rate of crimes attended by criminals. More importantly than implementing stricter gun control laws is for the government to take actions to regulate and eliminate the illegal markets where firearms are bought by individuals that cannot legally own one. There should not be no more restrictions and laws regarding the right to bear arms, given that the current laws provide the necessary safeguards against gun-related crimes. Owning a firearm gives persons a way to protect themselves and their family and this is a right that no one should take away.

The right to bear arms has been around for many years. It all started with the introduction of the second amendment which was introduced into our nation when the Constitution was ratified in 1791. To America the right to bear arms has been a tradition ever since the colonist settled on North American soil. Because of this tradition, armed soldiers won America’s freedom from the English. After the Americans wore victorious in the great revolutionary war in seventeen eighty one, there were some questions remaining within the people. One of the questions was, what kind of new government would the nation have? Another question was, how much independence would be given to each of the states? And finally the last question is what would the role of guns be in the new society. When James Madison finished writing the seventeen amendments to the constitution, he was originally concerned with only one, this amendment was the second one that stated the right to bear arms. Seeking inspiration, Madison turned to the English bill of rights as well as looking at many of the early ones written by the individual American colonies. Many of these states bill of rights granted the people the right to bear arms for the defense of the states and the right of each individual to protect themselves and love ones.
A vast majority of citizens believe that if gun control is strictly enforced it would quickly reduce the rate of crimes. Many innocent people feel they have the right to bear arms for protection; therefore, citizens have the right to protect themselves against danger. Due to the ownership of guns: burglaries, robberies, assaults and other crimes have resulted in a major decrease by people who use them to protect themselves. According to The Gun Owners Foundation, is being said that criminals avoid citizens that are armed. One example is, a law in a city in Florida required that at least one gun in every household caused the crime rate in that city to drop eighty nine percent. According to the Brady bill, every person that is going to buy a firearm must be submitted to a background check that can last up to five days, because of this, store owners will know to whom they be selling the gun to and it will be safer. This should also prevent eccentric people and criminals from buying a gun and use it for none appropriate things. Throughout the nineteenth century nobody challenge either the second amendment nor the peoples unlimited right to bear arms. However in the twentieth century the major source of debate was between those who believed gun control was necessary and those who believed that gun control infringed upon the sacred constitutional rights written in the second amendment.

In today’s society many people are stressing the fact that most of the violence has to do with guns. What certain people don’t realize is that not always guns are the main reason why crimes occur. Have you ever stopped to think about how other instruments can be used to commit crimes, for example, what happened to knives, clubs, axes, brass knuckles and a million of other existing weapons, what happened to these weapons? Aren’t they as dangerous as a gun? We think that making a big deal about guns is a waste of time because it won’t change anything. Just like guns we have all these other variety of weapons that can also harm them. In addition: guns, knives, whatever the weapon is shouldn’t be blamed on, because it’s also the humans fault for making the wrong decision. When you are a murderer you are a murderer, what we mean is that whether they eliminate guns or not it won’t make a difference because the murderer will always find a new weapon that will be as dangerous as a gun. If guns were to be terminated then other weapons should be also deal with because they will be used as the other alternative for the replacement of the firearm. Obviously we have weapons to defend and protect ourselves and also protect our love ones. Weapons were obviously made to be used. Yes, it is wrong to use it on others but what can we do, we are humans after all and we commit mistake at times, whether its with weapons or anything else. Crime will never stop as long as we live upon this world, we would never stop having crimes no matter what. So after all, in order to understand who we are in today’s society, it’s essential to look at hour history.
