The Right To Die
You go to your doctor s office for your yearly check up and you find out that in your body is an aggressive form of cancer and you are told you have six weeks to six months to live. A few months pass and now bed ridden is the key word and being pumped full of drugs. Laying there in bed like a vegetable just so that making it to next day is a reasonable goal to make. When that next day finally comes the symptoms are worse then the day before now needing more morphine just so you can get back to that vegetable like heaven. Is this the way that you would really want to spend your last few remaining days on this earth? I would hope not and this is why euthanasia should be allowed to become a choice for terminally ill people, instead of going through all trouble and hardships it brings.
Oregon was the first and only state to make doctor assisted suicide legal in the United States. This law was passed in 1994 and since its passing only 43 people have taken advantage of this option. This should be made a buyable option for all those suffering form terminally ill cancers and viruses. The House of Representatives passed a Pain Relief Promotion Act. last October which is starting to give doctors the right to take action to relive pain for terminally ill people. So why not let the people vote and take the actions of their life in their own hands give them the right to choose.

The biggest argument against this is that only god has the final choice between life and death, or that the terminally ill could be so incompetent due to illness that he or she can t understand that they gave someone permission to take their life. Another big thing that has been found in regards to this are that most of the people who would ask for this have either sever depression or psychological distress and not the suggested pain. And the people who are mostly apposed to euthanasia are those more like to use in the elderly.
Another big reason for backing for euthanasia is that not everyone can receive the best medical treatment, and hundreds of people die yearly because while in the hospital they show no improvement so the cable that keeps them alive is pulled from the wall and this is legal. So in a way this is already being used in our society, but instead of paying all the money to the hospital and in insurance money why not let those who are willing to take a pain free route if that is what they want.
