The education system has an important role in developing intelligence, but one thing is for sure, every person’s intelligence is different. We all learn at different paces, some of us get things faster than others do. For this reason some students think intelligence is innate (Dweck,1).
This causes most students give up and not try any longer.
In “The Secret to Raising Smart Kids”, Dweck’s studies show that teaching people to have a “growth mind-set” helps make them into high achievers in school and in life. Education comes in this “growth mind-set”, teachers can teach their students a little on how the brain works. My teacher in the past has told us about “fixed mind-set” and “growth mind-set”. She compared a “growth mind-set” with a plant. It keeps growing, but not on its own, you need water and protein to keep the plant alive. The plant is the brain, the water and proteins are the new information you learned in school to keep your brain growing. In a “fixed mind-set”, she compared it to a box. A box doesn’t grow. All you can do with a box is make it smaller or if not it stays the same. I know I’ve said it before that we all learn at different paces, but for me this presentation our teacher gave us pushed me to do better and not have a “fixed mind-set”, and I’m pretty sure I wasn’t the only student that was able to change. If I was, it’s still one student that didn’t think they could succeed in school, but learned that if you keep thinking that they won’t get it they won’t and just give up. But if they keep trying and have it in their minds that everything is possible, you just have to put more effort into it, you can do it. Education is an important part in intelligence.

Without the education we have, we wouldn’t know the things we know. In school you go into depth about the things we learn and the test we take make sure we learned the criteria. Some students that don’t get the information in class because they weren’t paying attention, instead of going to the teacher they go to Google and search the question they might have, becoming less thoughtful (Rushkoff,1).
In Google searches the first thing that usually pops is anything form Wikipedia, we all know Wikipedia isn’t the best website to rely on, yet people still use it for research especially students that are too lazy to keep searching for good knowledge. Carelessness isn’t the only thing that pulls us back from getting the right knowledge we need to know that we learned from our education to help our intelligence. Also technology holds us back.
Although technology has increased our intelligence, if it wasn’t for mathematics, sciences, etc. we get though our education we wouldn’t have the technology we have; IPods computers, cellphones, nor television sets. But these electronics have also pulled students away from their education. Nowadays students get their phones taken away for texting in class, IPods taken away for being on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. or listening to music. Having this new technology is interfering with education, it’s not letting students focus on their education and learn the criteria needed to learn. Education is an important thing in life and our intelligence.
Since per-school education opens up our intelligence. First we start with our ABC’s, simple addition and subtraction and work our way up to writing essays and solving trigonometry problems, some of us reach these goals a little later than others, but we all get there at one point if we keep trying. If it wasn’t for education our intelligence would have never grown we wouldn’t be able to communicate with each other as clear, we wouldn’t have the things we have. With someone’s intelligence they came up with computers, televisions, cameras, and phones. And that person’s intelligence came from the education and knowledge they learned. The knowledge we obtain from our education came determine our future in a long run; you never know you or the person sitting next to you can be the next Einstein or Steve Jobs. Get the education you need and have a “growth mind-set” to never give up even after you have made a mistake. Education will open doors for you and will make your intelligence grow.
The Essay on What Is More Important for a Person’s Education: Things Learned in School or from Real Life Experiences?
Nowadays, there are thousands of ways for people to expose themselves to knowledge. Getting more and more knowledge has always been human’s desire. Schooling, therefore, is now becoming more and more popular. However, many people think that things learned in school are not enough for a person’s education.
