Turning water into wine: (John 2:1-12) In John’s gospel, the first sign miracle performed by Jesus was turning water into wine.
When Jesus and his disciples attended marriage ceremony in Cana of Galilee, according to Dr. Towns, “Probably six disciple were with Christ at this time, those who were mentioned in the previous two days (Andrew, Peter, Philip, Nathaniel-the friend of Andrew, John the writer of the gospel of John, and his brother James” (2002) Jesus and his disciples arrived on the third day which the wedding celebration was in progress, and at a certain point the wine ran out.
Mary Jesus’ mother came to Jesus and told him to do something about it even though Jesus responded by saying to Mary that “My hour has not yet come” (John 2:4) Mary was not discourage because she believed Jesus was from God and he is capable do all things, so she instructed the servants to do whatever Jesus will ask them to do. So Jesus directed the servants to fill six pots with water, which miraculously turned into wine. According to Dr. Towns, “this miracle demonstration shows Jesus’ Power over creation” (2002) Jesus was present and actively participated at the creation and possessed the nature of God this prove his deity.
(John 1:1-4) Healing of a nobleman’s Son (John 4:46-54) The second sign miracle Jesus performed in the gospel of John is the healing of the nobleman’s Son. When Jesus came again to Cana in Galilee where a nobleman, probably a high-ranking official of Herod Antipas, approached him as told him about his sick and dying son in Capernaum and asked Jesus to heal him. Jesus spoke the word of healing and told him that his son is healed. When he returned home, his son was healed at the exact hour Jesus spoke the words of healing when he did the enquiries.

The birth of Jesus was foretold by Angel Gabriel when he appeared to Virgin Mary (Luke 1:26 – 38). He announced that Mary would give birth to a child whose name would be “the Son of the Most High”. Since Mary was a virgin she wondered how this would be but the angel told her “the Holy Spirit ...
According to Dr. Towns, “this sign miracle shows Jesus’ Power over space” (2002) Jesus spoke the healing words at Cana of Galilee, and the dying boy was healed in Capernaum. What a Mighty Jesus we serve, the intention of this sign miracle was to show people and bring them to believe (John 4:48) only God is not limited by space and because Jesus is God, he was able to control space and bring instant healing to the dying boy. This shows Jesus’ deity. Healing of a lame man (John 5:1-9)
The third sign miracle Jesus performed in John’ gospel was healing of a lame man. A man who had been lame for thirty-eight years had been by the pool of Bethesda, unable to help himself first into the water when angels trouble it. When Jesus saw him, he asked “Wilt thou be made whole” and ordered him “Rise, take up thy bed and walk” The man immediately took up his bed and started walking. Even though the Pharisees were angry because of the Sabbath, Jesus made his point by proving to them that his father’ will is to work in all season. According to Dr.
Towns, “this sign miracle shows Jesus’ power” over time” (2002) Morris also states, “This sign is Jesus assertion that he could do on Sabbath things that the Pharisees could not do” (1989) God is in the business of working 24/7 protecting us, healing us and providing for us so is Jesus because he is God and this prove his deity. A great number of people had followed Jesus listening to him speaking and it came to a point that there was a need for them to be feed.
Jesus asked Philip if they could find a place to purchase food for them. Jesus knew what he would do, but this time he asked to test Philip. Disciple Andrew found a small boy with five barely loaves and two small fishes. After Philip expressed his concerned about where to find enough food for such a number of people. Jesus instructed them to sit down in groups and took the loaves and the fish, gave thanks to the LORD and made his disciples distributes it out to the people. According to Dr. Towns, “this sign miracle shows Jesus’ Power over food” (2002) no wonder why Jesus said, “I am the bread of life” (John 6: 22-59) Jesus is the great provider. Morris states, “The bread symbolism is complex, but clearly Jesus is the supplier of our deepest needs” (1989) Because Jesus is God, the food that he gives is not only food for the stomach, but the food that fills the souls of man. This miracle shows Jesus’ deity. Jesus walking on the water (John 6: 15-21) The fifth sign miracle Jesus performed in John’ gospel was walking on the water.
As we have seen: Jesus had finished with the feeding of the five thousand, he slipped off to get away from the people because they had plans to force him to be King. He went to the mountains by himself, which was not something new to him. His disciples had gotten into a boat, headed Capernaum; in the dark of the night, the sea rose-up and there was a great wind blowing upon them. They saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they were frightened. Jesus encouraged them not to be afraid because it was he; their joy became full and they immediately reached at the shore. According to Dr.
Towns’ “this sign miracle shows Jesus’ Power over natural laws” (2002) According to About Jesus Christ . org, “The great lesson in Jesus walking on the water is that, he has control over every situation” (02-2014) Jesus has the supreme authority in all the universe. There is no mountains, valleys, storms that he cannot controls it and that power over natural laws shows his deity. Healing of a blind man: (John 9:1-12) The sixth sign miracle performed by Jesus in John’s gospel was healing of a blind man. This story begins with Jesus and his disciples passing by a man who was blind from birth.
The disciples asked Jesus, “Who sinned, this man, or his parent? ” Jesus answered, neither one: but that the works of God should be made manifested in him” (John 9:3-4) Jesus spat on the ground, and made clay and anointed the eyes of the blind man and then told him to go wash in the pool of Siloam. He went his way therefore and washed his eyes and came seeing. According to Dr. Towns, “this sign miracle shows Jesus’ Power over physical laws” (2002) it was physically impossible for the blind man to see but when Jesus’ power over physical laws manifested, the impossible became possible for the blind man.

Jesus who is God only has the power to do just that; this miracle shows Jesus’ deity. Raising Lazarus from the dead: (John 11:1-44) The seventh sign miracle Jesus performed in John’s gospel was raising Lazarus from the dead. Martha and Mary sent a message to Jesus seeking his help in healing Lazarus, as he was gravely ill. After the messenger gave Jesus the message, Jesus waited for two whole days before going to Bethany after Lazarus had died for four days and was buried.
Jesus comforted Mary at first and told her that Lazarus will rise again because he is the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in him, though he is dead; but he shall live. After Jesus grieved with Mather and Mary, he went to Lazarus’ grave and told them to take away the stone, and Jesus cried out “Lazarus come forth” (John 11:43) and instantly Lazarus rose from the grave, and came out with his feet and face bounded with grave clothes. Lazarus a man who has been dead for four days has come back to life because of the power of our Lord Jesus Christ.
According to Dr. Towns, “this sign miracle shows Jesus’ Power over death” (2002) As Morris puts it, “Jesus does not say simply that he will give resurrection and life, but that he is resurrection and life” (1989) the one who has life can give life. Jesus is life that is what makes him God over death. Miraculous catch of fish (John 21:1-11) The final sign miracle performed by Jesus in John’s gospel was the miraculous catch of fish. This sign miracle occurred after the resurrection of Jesus, he appeared himself to the disciples as they were fishing in the Sea of Galilee.
They fished throughout the night and caught nothing; the following morning, Jesus came to them saying “cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find fish” (John 21:5,6) they did and caught 153 fish in abundance. They then returned at shore and had breakfast with Jesus, whom they then recognized. It is impossible to notice that Jesus was outwardly changed after his resurrection, the disciples did not recognized his outward appearance but “knew” he was the Lord in their spiritual instinct (Tenney, 1981) According to Dr.

Towns, “This sign miracle shows Jesus’ power over all of the above” (2002) there is no doubt that Jesus has power over all the miracle mentioned above. As he walked on this earth, he fulfilled the entire task given to him by God the father and finally conquered death. Even though Jesus had previously done this miracle before, but this time it prove that he is risen with full deity of God and still in business of doing miracles praise God.
