War is a crucial topic that is covered in America. It is significant to many people because they value the importance that there is to serving the country and fighting for justice. People tend to think that it’s an honor and glory to fight for our country, but in reality what they don’t know is that war is draining and horrible. We see different views about war that in reality we don’t know the exact truth about war. We won’t have an exact answer to what the truth of war is because of the different opinions we might get.
What may seem to be the truth of war for me to others it might not be due to the fact that we all have different thoughts and opinions about it. The only people that will understand the truth of war is the people that actually experience war and can tell their story about it. In many situations we feel like we know the answer to what we think war is, but we won’t know the truth until we experience the situation up close. There are many mysteries to the truth of war. I personally have always been against war because I felt that it was putting many people in danger.
I often hear stories, see movies, documentaries and news reports that are based on war and I create an image that everything I see and hear is what war must be like. I haven’t had much knowledge about war, but what I used to see in documentaries made be despite the idea of ever joining an institution that would get me killed. The training, mistreatment, and war itself have always been against my will. Watching various movies that involved war and death caused me to have that ugly image of war and fear the effects that they can create. War usually changes the life of many people.

Many debate weather joining the war or not may be the decision they want to make, but for many people that join the war it’s a life changing experience. Perhaps you might feel like taking that initiative will be the beginning of a new chapter. In reality will it be? Will the war be what you imagine it to be? Ads and the governments itself campaign the army, marines, and navy as honor and glory for serving the country. Young men used to and still join these institutions without really knowing what they will be facing. The campaigns in reality don’t make references to the ugly picture of war, which young men don’t have sense of.
They wanted to keep many secrets from us because they exposed many lies that generated in order to get people involved in war. In the story War Is Force that Gives Us Meaning by Chris Hedges, he argues how mythical reality took over sensory reality when the news was covering the war. Mythical reality is a fictional illusion that soldiers create to view war differently, while sensory reality tells reality as we see it. Therefore when reporters would report some situations that occurred, most of the time they would use mythical reality to show only the side of the story they wanted to mention.
Hedges found this wrong because he wants people to open their eyes and see the truth of war not to believe the fake stories that are created so they can attract people to join the war. War has no limits, anything possible can happen. We often don’t have an idea of the real experiences that soldiers go through. In the Vietnam War we were able to see how corruption and perversion built up and was part of the soldiers who gained it with the power they obtained. In “The Seduction of Battle and the Perversion of War” from Chris Hedges War is a Force that Gives Us Meaning, he mentions how warzones have no rules, especially not about death.
Soldiers are forced to kill, while some find it very appealing to kill because they feel they have power others refuse to kill the innocent and it affects their lives. We can see that people that prosper are the most ruthless and corrupt in war. Soldiers that experience war can see how corrupt it can be. After reading many stories about war it helped me expand my knowledge about it. Although I still don’t have a clear answer about the truth of war it gave me a clear idea about what people go through when they experience war and it gave me more reason to be against it. The perversion and corruption that war carries within it is terrible.

War is essentially mass murder, people are horrified at the occasional murder that occurs and don’t have much power to prevent it. Soldiers tend to lose the real meaning about war and want to justify their actions through believing things that aren’t truth. It allows me to view that war is not all about fighting for justice and being and honorary civilian that serves the country but an actual event where it makes people change who they truly are. Former veterans that experienced war have to carry these situations throughout their lives and for many it hard to carry them.
I realized that war is not worth putting your life at risk because at the end you have to carry with the trauma, guilt, and experiences that they had in war. Whether you know the truth about war or not the important point here is that we create an understanding about it because we won’t have an exact answer until we experience it. Everything we hear and see only helps us expand and understand the truth of war. The government keeps many things about war from the public for their benefit of recruiting more soldiers. We have many victims that experience ungrateful situations such as the deaths of the innocent and the perversion that war has within it.
They don’t want us to know what in reality occurs with the corruption and in justice that is created in war. Where we believe we have soldiers fighting for justice and risking their lives to serve the country, but in reality are dealing with dramatic incidents. While some soldiers become dramatized by the experiences they face others become powerful and justify their actions by believing they are doing the correct thing. War has many mysterious sides to it that we will eventually be discovered as we analyze what veterans have to say about their experience in war.
