Revision Though many people may dismiss the importance of the importance of Wes I writing The Other Wes Moore due to its bending of truth, exaggerations and comparisons of incomparable lives (Wes I & Wes II) in many different ways, the theme and overall purpose is very noteworthy. It is noteworthy for its positive contribution in its influence to the readers who extract the vital information with an approach that enables them to succeed instead of trying to dis-credit the book for its facade that was develop to create a more empowering theme that the choice is ours and we can change if we are willing.
Therefore, we should learn from the book’s intention by taking lessons taught throughout the book to help us make decisions in our daily lives. Wes I set the tone of the story by questioning of how two people of the same name from the same city ended up with two different faiths. Where they were both far on each end of the spectrum in term of consequence for a life brought up that seems to be identical with only difference of thinnest of margins; one who is now a leader in society while the other is sentenced to life in prison.
In this instance, it allows readers to questions how important our small steps in life that we take could impact us greatly in our future? Their lives are close to identical; they both grew up in a rough neighborhood of Baltimore where drugs, crimes, and violence infested the streets, but they end up with two completely different faiths. Even though they were similar in this matter, Wes I had mentors in his life (including his mother) who helped guide him in a better direction when he was off track, Wes II was not as fortunate and looked up to his older brother, who sold drugs in the streets and was involved in gang activity and violence.

When Wes II tries to follow his brother in his endeavors, his brother Tony knows well enough that his life is not one to be followed and tries to warm Wes II about the dangers of involvement in the street; however, disregarding his brother’s advice, he got involved, as it seemed to be the quickest road to richness. He saw other drug dealers were acquiring assets and amenities that he yearns for. With this contrast, some readers may interpret this as unfair comparisons between two lives as one had a great mentor and advantage over the other and may be doubtful of trying to extract the theme of the writing as something reliable.
However, we could be wise and learn from the right-doings and wrong-doings of these characters and make more positive and better choices by not doing the wrongs and following the rights of this story. In this way, people can more efficiently gain from the writings of Wes I instead of writing it off as a reading lost. The growth of Wes I and Wes II differ from each other in many more ways than they are similar. Wes I was fortunate to have a family that owns a home in Baltimore and was just being a bad boy, While Wes II’s family were renting in Baltimore and did not have the money to send Wes II to Military school like Wes I.
Wes II had to go to the streets to make money through selling of drugs to the addicts of Baltimore. For both of them, even the rules of respect in their lives were different. In Wes II’s life, if someone disrespected him, it would mean for him to seek revenge and to even the score so no one could attempt to push through such margins again which is self-detrimental. Wes II would have more tolerance and less vengeful for other wrong-doings on him. Consequently, because of his actions and lifestyle, Wes II ended up being sentenced to life in prison for the murder of an officer after an armed robbery.
The difference between them was really their foundations and the people they are associated with. Two same name living in the same city was not enough to compare the lives of these two; however, if we learn that accepting certain opportunities and having a will to change your mindset was preset due to environment, we are able to change our future and create our new faith. In many ways, this book can be very influential to the youth of America through its comparison and contrast of two separate lives that resulted in two completely different faiths.
