This report work entails barriers of communication encountered during the process of communication by the personal assistant to the VP technology and manufacturing and how to overcome these barriers. These barriers include physical barriers, semantic barriers, socio-psychological barriers and other barriers. In the prevailing scenario the following barriers of communication oral and written arise between the sender and receiver. 1. Physical barriers Time and distance: It acts as a barrier to smooth flow of communication. With telephone and telex facilities being used, there is likelihood of mechanical break down occurring. Therefore the distance between the transmitter and receiver becomes a mighty barrier.
2. Semantic barriers. Semantic refers to the meaning of language used. A word can be interpreted by different people in a different way according to their mental attitude and understanding. In the prevailing scenario where people of different background have been invited there is likely to be this barrier of communication where different language is used by different people. 3.
Socio psychological barriers. Attitude and opinions: Attitude and opinions act as a barrier to effective communication. Wherever information agree to our opinions we favour where it. Where it disagrees with our opinions we disregard it. Same in an organization where policy change proves advantageous to an employee he welcomes it. They include the ability to express ideas clearly in writing, in language suitable to the intended purpose of communication. HOW TO OVERCOMME THE COMMUNICATION BARRIERS 1. The communication structure should be simple and clear i.e.

Reduction of messages sent throughout the organization by use of memos, notices which must be put in the organisations notice board. 3. Providing for ways to deal with emotional distractions.
