The Essay on Titanic 8
When people hear the name Titanic many vivid and emotional images come to mind. Visions of the very last yet frantic final moments titanic spent afloat before sinking to its watery grave miles below the surface. No one however pictures everything that had happened before and after the great liner sank, or the passengers and crew who were doomed to be aboard the massive ship. Many factors made ...
1.Where J J went
2.What J J saw
V.With the help of these electronic robotic devices, scientists were able to locate and then explore the ship; also, several of the mysteries that were hidden in the Titanic were discovered.
The SS Titanic, a British steamship which was said to be unsinkable, left Southampton, England in 1912. The vessel never reached its intended destination of New York City, New York. Instead, on its first and only voyage, the Titanic was recorded lost at sea at 11:40 pm on April 14, 1912 when it collided with an iceberg, killing over fifteen hundred people. Even eighty years after the ship had been missing, people wanted answers to this unsolved tragedy: how could a vessel of the Titanic’s size disappear and how could the unsinkable ship, sink? Equipped with several technologically advanced devices, researchers from France and the US found the wreckage of the Titanic in 1985. In fact, four electronic robotic devices were used to aid scientists in discovering and in exploring the Titanic.
Two electronic devices were used to discover and to explore the outside of this giant ship. Argo, a large underwater robot, was used to find the Titanic. The size of a small car, Argo weighed 4,000 pounds and “…consisted of a steel sled equipped with video cameras that took moving television pictures, which were transmitted through cables to the surface, as it was pulled at the end of a long cable sixty to a hundred feet above the ocean floor.” Overall, this contraption was virtually a robot; it was managed by scientists over two miles above, who sat in the relative comfort of the control room in the Knorr, a ship that was attached by cables to Argo. Argo cruised back and forth over the bottom of the ocean floor as it was being deep-towed behind the Knorr. Due to the exploration of the Argo, the Titanic was found on April 9, 1986.
Once the Titanic was found, a second device, the Angus, was used to photograph the exterior of the ship. In contrast to the Argo, the Angus was able to take colored photographs. During the time that the device was photographing the ship, many things were found. The Angus found a sink, a white porcelain bathtub that was almost hidden by rust in contrast to its original appearance, and a statuette of a Greek goddess that once stood on a fireplace in the elegant first class lounge of the Titanic. A cast iron frame of a deck bench was also found and photographed. All of these remains found by Angus were located on the outside of the ship.
The Essay on Jason Titanic Ship One
We alone can not go down and get close enough to explore the Titanic. We now have the technology to build robotic machines to explore the ocean floor like Jason or Jason Jr. They are smaller than a submarine, actually a lot smaller, almost like a remote control car. The Titanic sank in the north Atlantic in 1912. Jason Jr. is very handy, it can reach as deep as 4000 meters. The reason they do not ...
Another robotic device used by the explorers allowed them to actually see the Titanic. Alvin, the name of this tiny submarine, was a unique device. “Named after one of its early advocates, Al Vine…,” this device, successfully built in 1964, was developed as a tool in underwater exploration. Although it was a success in other underwater trips, for the Titanic exploration Alvin had several limitations. Unfortunately, this sub was only able to accommodate three people. Another problem that the scientists faced was the sub’s inability to travel very deep. In order to see the wreckage, the submarine needed to dive to the average depth of the ocean, 12,000 feet or two miles. However, Alvin’s “…range was limited…by its HY-100 steel hull, which permitted it to dive only to about 6,000 feet, far less than the average depth of the deep ocean.” Due to its limited depth capabilities, the steel hull was replaced by a titanium alloy in 1973. After the alterations on the hull, the sub’s maximum depth capabilities more than doubled to 13,000 feet.
With this new improvement, Alvin enabled scientists to learn more about the Titanic. Now that Alvin could get close enough to the ship, three explorers could see that the hull of the liner was coal black and that sections of the ship had been turned into brilliant, rusty panoramas of red, orange, and yellow. As the explorers ventured closer to the ship, they were able to see material items such as three safes, a chair, and a lavatory bowl around the ship, among other things.
Since Alvin was unable to enter the Titanic, a new device was created called J J. With this electronic mechanism, scientists were allowed to view the interior of the ship. J J was a remote controlled underwater robot that was the size of a small lawn mower. Due to its size, J J was easily kept in a special garage that was attached to the sub, Alvin. Operated by a long cable that was also connected to Alvin, J J was equipped with a still and a video camera.
The Essay on Titanic Myths
There was a ship that was said to be unsinkable. This ship was named Titanic. The Titanic had many theories on how it sank, it also had many errors which caused millions of deaths, and had a theory that I believe is true. Theories on how the Titanic sankThe Titanic had many theories on how it sank, here are a few. There was an American businessman, that bought the remains of Princess Amen-Ra. He ...
Although it was not definite that J J could withstand the ocean’s pressure, the robot performed well. As J J entered the ship, it inched down into the yawning blackness of the Grand Staircase. While still on its expedition, J J visited the room located above the staircase which had once been the Captain’s quarters. J J then proceeded through the ship to its deck, looking into several first class cabins and into many passageways. During the journey, J J discovered a chandelier, a broken railing, bits and pieces of equipment, hull plates that were possibly damaged by the iceberg, a tin cup, and two brass door knobs.
With the help of these four electronic robotic devices, scientists were able to find and explore the “unsinkable” ship eighty four years after its first and final voyage. While the Argo found the ship, the Angus actually photographed the wreckage and the area surrounding it. With the help of Alvin, scientists were able to travel to the bottom of the ocean to see the ship’s remains. Since Alvin could not enter the ship, a small robot named J J provided the scientists with a view of the Titanic’s interior. J J was equipped with still and video cameras that took pictures of actual treasures on the ship. With the help of these four robots, scientists solved and answered the remaining mysteries and questions surrounding the Titanic and its fatal trip.
