The nobility to have just behaviour or treatment toward certain situations and others is an aptitude that individuals lack. One should always consider being fair to all. Standing up for the right thing may cause harm to one, however justice is the fairest thing to deliver. The fact that it is unreasonable to treat others unfairly, makes being just a necessary quality in order for one to support the right thing in life. Not only that but being unjust is being immoral, which leads to unhappiness or problems. Even though one knows its natural for things to have justice, they may not demonstrate it when needed because they are biased. In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus Finch, Scout and Heck Tate demonstrate justice for they are capable of standing for the right things without fearing the consequences. This is clearly evident in Atticus’ reasons for defending Tom Robison in court, for his willingness to stand up against the lynch mob, and for decision to not insist that Boo be charged with murder.
Atticus believes that all citizen of Maycomb should have equal justice regardless of his/her religion or race. For this reason Atticus decides to take on Tom Robison’s case fully knowing they will not win; however, Atticus was devoted to trying to give Tom justice. Many others are shocked by Atticus’s decision to support an African-American man. The people of Maycomb do not approve of this and Atticus goes through a lot of name-calling and other troubles. If one decides to be just they shall prepare themselves to face all undesirable situations. The Maycomb city does not really appreciate Atticus standing up for an African-American man who is being accused for raping a white woman (Mayella).

Atticus is well aware that even though Tom is innocent he will lose the case, since he is a white man trying to defend a black man. They could not win, “simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is no reason for us not to try to win”(76).
By the phrase “no reason for us not to try to win” Atticus shows that there is always hope in giving others justice and doing the unthinkable, for doing what is right is a reasonable thing. Even though it was nearly impossible to give justice to Tom due to his race, Atticus was still devoted to do so. By the phrase “ simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started” Atticus states, he might not be able to change how things have been done over the past years, for they have had a racism factor in Maycomb for many years, but they can still try. A part of giving justice to others is being strong enough to face different outcomes. Atticus was willing to defend a man was innocent, although Tom Robison will be trialed guilty due to his race.
Atticus is a firm believer of equal justice and he does not fear the consequences he will have to face in order to give others justice. Bob Ewell convicted Tom Robison guilty; this caused a trial to be appointed for Tom. Tom was being accused of raping Mayella and these accusations lead the town to be very disgusted and angry at the actions of Tom. The Maycomb community found the need to take revenge for they organize a lynch mob. Atticus was well aware that Tom may die due this lynch mob, however it is only just of him to go and stand up for Tom. This goes to show that Atticus is not just about being fair but he is also brave enough to stand up for others and not fear the undesirable situation. Atticus knows it’s not right to let Tom get killed by a lynch mob for Tom has done nothing wrong. Atticus assures Tom that he is safe from the mob, “…They’ve gone, he said. Get some sleep, tom. They won’t bother you any more…You’re damn tootin’ they won’t. Had you covered all the time Atticus.”(155) “They won’t bother you any more.”, this phrase states that Atticus willingly stayed at the Maycomb jail for he found it fair to stay and protect Tom from the lynch mob. Atticus went though a lot of danger in order to support Tom; however, he believes that justice should be served and one should not fear anything while giving others justice. Atticus willingly went to the Maycomb jail to protect Tom from the lynch mob. Atticus had done an impressive job for Mr. Underwood goes on to complementing how Atticus did not fear no consequences by stating “You’re damn tootin they won’t” after Atticus told Tom that the lynch mob had left and he nothing to worry about. This shows how Atticus is brave enough to go to any extant to give justice.

Boo Radley “Mr. Arthur” was a man who was never given justice. There were many rumours regarding him as well as he was mistreated every now and then. Sadly, one never saw that Boo was just like everyone else. Boo Radley does not serve justice, for justice serves him. Scout served Boo with the most justice. She realizes that Boo in fact is just like everyone else, a normal human being. Scout reflects back on the fact that “Atticus was right. One time he said you never really know a man until you stand in his shoes and walk around in them. Just standing on the Radley porch was enough.”(279).
Scout was thankful for everything that Boo Radley had done for them and in return her judgment towards Boo changes, which in a sense gave Boo his justice. The phrase “you never really know a man until you stand in his shoes and walk around in them”, states that one doesn’t know someone until they are in their shoes and taken on their roles and responsibility. Scout did not take on any of Boo’s roles or responsibilities, but she was able to understand Boo better and “Just standing on the Radley porch was enough” to make her realize her judgment on Boo and the justice he deserved. That was not the only justice Boo received, for Heck Tate hushed up the situation of Boo stabbing Bob Ewell. Heck Tate knew that Boo was the murder, however, he didn’t want to bring Boo unneeded attention for he believed that Tom died for no reason and so did the man who murdered him. “Let the dead bury the dead. “Boo Radley “Mr. Arthur” is served justice in the sense that he is finally understood and the killing of Bob Ewell was hushed up and pronounced as an accident. Justice is established all through out To Kill a Mockingbird. Not many have the decency to show justice and stand up for the right things without having fear. Atticus, Scout and Heck Tate all demonstrate the goodness of being just to others and doing what is right. Atticus chose to defend Tom Robinson and serve him justice without caring about how others judged him. Atticus believes justice should be delivered to everyone, nonetheless Atticus is not afraid to face severe situation in order to give others justice. Atticus willingly puts himself in danger and stands up to lynch mob. Heck Tate and Scout give justice to Boo Radley a man who’s been misunderstood and finally receives justice. Justice is about doing the right things and being just to others. Along with that one needs to be prepared to face all consequences. To be honest, to do the right thing; to believer justice to others by looking past the harm one might receive themselves.
