Trip To Arkansas
Specific Purpose: To communicate how wonderful it is to spend time with your grandparents.
Introduction
I. Open with impact: Imagine being alone for two weeks with your grandparents.
a. First glance it seems terrible.
b. Think again it can be a great experience.
c. You will remember for the rest of your life.
II. Focus: My focus of this peace is to show to the class my love for my grandparents.
II. Connection: When taking a trip with my grand parents I learned three things.
A. It was nice to just get in the car and go with out having a plan.
B. I leaned that there are things that my grandparents should not do.
C. There are two places that I distinctly remember the most is visiting the Jack Daniel’s Distillery, and the diamond field.
Body
Preview: I hope that after my speech you to will be able to appreciate quality time with your grand parents.
I. We choose to go to Arkansas to dig for diamonds, at a diamond farm.
a. We form Poughkeepsie NY to Arkansas.
b. We had a plan of the roads to travel but we kinda figured it out as we went.
c. I was the one to tell the driver, Grandma or grandpa where to go I was the navigator.
Signpost: Now I would like to move on to my second idea.
II. There are things that my grandparents are not allowed to do.
The Essay on Do The Right Thing
The movie Do the Right Thing, a group of people in the district of Brooklyn, have had enough and tensions are growing in this black ghetto area. The only local businesses are a Korean grocery and Sal's Pizzeria. Mookie, Sal's delivery boy, manages to always be at the center of the action. A. Never let grandpa pack his own cloth.
B. My grandparents got into a fight when packing therefor grandpa had to pack his own stuff.
1. He for got his under cloths.
2. We had to go Kmart in West Virginia to get new under cloths.
3. It was the nicest Kmart I was ever in.
C. Grandma should never be allowed to drive at night, in an unfermilary place.
1. Grandma drove over the median in the middle of a six-lane highway.
2. She did this to get from the hotel to the waffle house across the street.
3. After dinner she drover over it again!
4. The next morning Grandpa wanted to go to the waffle house again, so grandma just drove over the median again!
Signpost: My final memory that sands out is visiting two distinct places.
I. The Jack Daniel’s Distillery
A. My Grandpa and I went on a tour of the whole distillery.
1. We learned of when the company began.
2. How the drinks are made.
3. And all about Mr. Jack too!
B. We did not however get to sample any Jack because the distillery is located in a dry county.
II. Also the day we went to dig for diamonds was also memorable.
A. I remember in the morning getting ready in old cloths to dig in the dirt.
B. I remember my grandma saying to get lots of big diamonds so we could be rich.
C. I remember being surprised at just how many people were there.
Conclusion
Signpost: In conclusion, let me just remind you of a few things.
I. Summarize: A trip with grandparents can be fun, if you have the right outlook.
A. I now hope when someone asks you if you could spend two weeks with your grandparents you will say of course. Then just hope in a car and go for two weeks with not much in mind other than fun.
B. I bet you too will learn that there are things that your grandparents should not do.
C. I hope you will get to visit some interesting places and remember them forever.
II. Close with impact: I hope you will get the opportunity of a lifetime like I did!
