1. Close Up Picture Number: 1633 For this compositional strategy I chose a picture of a postcard of New York showing the skyline, twin towers included, being held by a steel fence. Above it is another picture showing Jesus kneeling. The two images are in the center of the picture creating a symmetrical balance. The repetitions of the fence forming the diamonds in the background dose not make it go unnoticed because you realize that without it the pictures could not be held up. Looking closer you see that the image of Jesus and of New York are overlapping, and that overall this picture shows a figure-ground relationship.
To me this picture can be looked at in two different ways. The fact that Jesus is above the postcard of New York to me indicates that the photographer is trying to that even after this terrible tragedy that has happened to one of the worlds greatest cities, above all, we must have hope and faith that New York and America will recover. Because even though steel (hence the fence) could not hold up the towers our faith is stronger than steal and will overcome any obstacle. 2. Long-Shot Picture Number: 7274 For the long shot I chose this pre 9/11 picture showing the New York city at night. It is not taken at ground view but instead is an aerial view.
It looks as though every light in the city is on showing a full tonal range in this picture creating almost a glowing aura. The twin towers are located in the center of the picture and from it there are 2 beams of light, one for each tower, rising from the ground into space. To me this picture puts emphasis on the twin Towers as being the heart and center of not only New York but perhaps of the entire earth. The light shining down on it looks like an energy source, or like it could be protecting it. The light to me can also be looked at as the souls of the people who died in the world trade center ascending to heaven, and perhaps the towers themselves as the soul of New York rising to heaven. 3.
The Term Paper on Organic Light Emitting Diode
Abstract: Organic Light Emitting Diode is a scalable nano level emerging technology in Flat Panel Displays and as a White Light Source with efficient features. This paper focuses on OLED structure, principle aspects, fabrication methodology and different techniques to replace current white light sources like Incandescent bulbs, Fluorescent tubes, and even display techniques like Liquid Crystal ...
Isolation Picture Number: 7213 The picture I chose to describe the Isolation compositional strategy is a picture that was taken of a very crowded area of new York. The entire picture is all kinds of people all heading in different direction, with their own. In the midst of all this is a white sign saying “Islam is not the Enemy” in black capital letters. In most pictures it is the human figure that draws the most attention, but in this picture we are given an overflow of human figures. Instead they become the background and the only thing that can really be focused on is the sign, it becomes the picture within the picture. To me the story within this image is not hard to figure out.
While so many accusation are being made about September 11 th, and everybody’s thoughts and accusations are heading in a million different directions, there is one thing amongst all of this that is easy and plain to see. Islam is not the Enemy! 4. Irony Picture Number: 2496 I thought this picture would make for a good example of irony. Because the two images portrayed in the picture are very different and it almost do sent make sense. The layout of this picture almost looks like it could actually be two pictures put on top of each other. The bottom section of it takes up exactly half of the picture as does the top portion.
The bottom portion is of the New York University campus tennis courts. On them you see four people and two games in progress. The top half of the picture is a very different scene. The Twin Towers have just been attacked but have not fallen yet, both have smoke coming out of the top that could be seen from anywhere in the city. This picture to me is a perfect example of contrast. At the bottom there a recreational sport going on, college students are playing tennis enjoying themselves.
The Essay on Do The Right Thing
The movie Do the Right Thing, a group of people in the district of Brooklyn, have had enough and tensions are growing in this black ghetto area. The only local businesses are a Korean grocery and Sal's Pizzeria. Mookie, Sal's delivery boy, manages to always be at the center of the action. The movie Do the Right Thing is a movie about a neighborhood that suffers from lack of diversity. On a hot ...
The thing you world least expect to however is going on just a few miles away from them. The strange thing about it is that is do sent seem to matter to them. From the picture it appears that there just going on with their game without a care in the world. What might this mean? It may mean that life goes on and we shouldn’t dwell too much on this tragedy but instead go on with our lives. It may mean that college student are too passive, so much that they don’t even notice what’s going on around them. I don’t think its any of these because neither of those scenarios are possible.
This one doesn’t make sense to me. 5. Contrast Picture Number: 7166 I chose this picture to portray how contrast is used. This picture is a closeup of a statue, so close that you only see a head with a hand covering the face as if the person who it is is crying or deeply sadden or worried.
However with this colorless statue is a pink rose. The first thing that catches your attention in this picture is the rose. But when you realize that’s its being held be somebody who is actually a statue it because unusual and even more peculiar yet beautiful. To me this statue symbolizes the grief of an entire nation.
It buries its head in its palms holding a flower for the dead. It something made made holding something natural, just as the twin towers were man made holding so many lives. 6. Dynamic Between People and Void Picture Number: 1885 This was one of my favorite pictures in the exhibit. The picture is completely black and white and to me the picture makes use of its entire space.
When you first look at the picture, the first thing you notice of course are the twin towers because of the incredible amount of smoke coming from them even before they fall. Following the implied line of smoke from the top left of the screen to the right, you reach the bridge, and following the arches down the bridge you reach the focal point of the piece. You see all kinds of people, black, white, asian… walking down the bridge, heading toward the same direction. Away from New York and away from the towers which will soon fall. To me this picture is great because even through the terror it suggests a h unity through the human race.
Everyone is heading in the same direction, everyone is walking side by side, they all have the dame expressions on their faces, there are many different races that can be seen, but it do sent matter because the picture is black and white and that this moment everyone is the same. When I look at this picture I get the feeling that these people are leaving New York for good. Like there leaving there lives and their accomplishments and there creation behind because somehow it has terribly gone wrong. There to another place for a new start.
