From seeing the movie Scotland Pennsylvania, the play Machomer, and another movie on Macbeth, I seemed to favor Scotland Pennsylvania the most. What made me favor Scotland PA over the other plays was that the language was easier to understand because it was of a more recent nature, the actions that they did were easy to comprehend with, and the fact that they put some ill humor in the movie made it a lot more fun to watch. Both movies and the play both assessed many of the main points of the true play Macbeth. Although Machomer did cut a lot of scenes out he made the play very interesting to watch because it was one man doing the voice of all the televisions cartoon show “The Simpsons.” He was able to act and imitate the voices very accurately to those of “The Simpsons.” He had all there body movements memorized such as when Mr. Burns speak’s his hands starts to shake and he is stooped over. Using picture backgrounds and some finger puppets made the audience feel very captivated.
Even though he used puppets and only used himself to portray all the characters in Macbeth I still felt very intrigued by the use of his actions and voices. His acting was so cleanly done it made me feel that there was more than one person doing the acting. He had no verbal mannerisms such as “u hmmm”uhhh h”like”, it was all very fluent and entertaining to see one man carry all the actions and voices and incorporate them into the play Macbeth. I felt that this was a good way to get the youth to view Macbeth because it was easier to understand as compared to the true version of Macbeth and it took something that we could all relate to such as “The Simpsons.” In watching the movie “Macbeth” where it tried to portray the real version of the play Macbeth, it was very hard to understand the language that was used because I am not accustomed to hearing that kind of English. The actors were very good but the scenery was very dull, usually just being a black curtain was it. I had some interest but not much in watching this version of Macbeth because I could not relate to it.

I could not understand what they were saying and I had trouble determining what was happening because there was no scenery. This was my least favorite out of the three versions of Macbeth that I have seen. Although in all versions of Macbeth and Machomer it was easy to tell who the three witches were because of the rhymes and spells that they had said together. I still think that Macbeth and Machomer’s destiny fated. The witches knew he was going to try to make things change but Macbeth didn’t. Even though the actions that Macbeth and Machomer did to become the king were of freewill the witches knew that his destiny was already fated.
I thought there could be contemporary tragedy because you could compare that to the government of Iraq where many people are killed just to gain in rank. I still thought that watching “Scotland PA” was a better way to learn about Macbeth although it wasn’t the best way to fully understand Macbeth it was a much more fun and easy way to understand it.
