Land of the Free, Home of the Brave Over years America has been a part in several wars. Since then, thousands of men and women have fought for the freedom of American citizens: their families, friends, for everyone. Some veterans have faced unspeakable hardships and unfortunately death. And for a person to risk their life for my freedom, they must be brave. Imagine waking up one morning and being told that you are being sent to a foreign country in seek of creating peace for an area that has only know turmoil.
Imagine arriving afraid but then watching the local children play and grow, only to learn of their starvation and see them cruelly killed. Imagine not seeing the person next to you and looking back to realize they’ve fallen. This is the life many veterans have lived. America’s veterans should be honored because they have suffered through so many hardships that others could not and have not survived, and they did it for their country that they loved. I believe that our veterans are our nation’s bravest citizens.
The government give veterans awards and medals. But they can only represent the respect and honor they have undoubtedly have earned. It should be our small job to respect those our have selflessly risked their lives for us. We should show them the love and care that they have missed for too long. Everything you have, your rights, home, and family is, in one way or another, is protected by a veteran. They didn’t have to, but they wanted to protect you. So why don’t we protect them for once?
