Everybody questions, what nurtures the violent crimes children are participating in? Many people have blamed the television programs kids are watching. But really is that all that is contributing to their violent acts? Sure there are more and more television channels coming out, it’s not the 13 channels everyone used to have. Cable television is no longer surprising to anyone, most people have it. And yes, more movies shown on TV, more shows with acts of violence, but can one actually convince someone or themselves that television programming is the ultimate reason for children’s violent acts? Many people, who believe television is the reason for kid’s aggressive acts, overlook the other issues that should also be taken into consideration.
The music kids are listening to today, is not helping the situation. The vulgar and intense lyrics, about homicide, suicide, weapons, and drugs can compare, if not be more of a cause. For instance the lyrics from the rapper Eminem, “left his brains all danglin’ from his neck, while his head barely hangs on Blood, guts, guns, cuts, knives, lives, wives, nuns, sluts.” Do you really think that these lyrics aren’t listened to, taken into thought, or understood. If a child can learn from a show or a movie, they can definitely learn from a song. Let us not forgot about the books children may read. Just because the book fits under the category “non-fiction” doesn’t mean children don’t get ideas.
The Essay on Positive environments for children and young people
Positive environment A positive environment is one that supports all aspects of the child’s development; staff members/carers can provide the children different ways to extend their developments. There are many books about crimes, and insane, disturbing thoughts. The internet is also a source for violent acts. There are so many websites on the internet. Anyone could find anything they wanted.
Such as sex, drugs, murder, rape, and weapons-just to name a few. There are not only thoughts, ideas, and experiences shared, but methods and ways to commit the crime. Now let me take this issue into a little different direction. What about the problems in general our society deals with everyday.
The terrorist acts, murders, and crimes that our nation commits, and other countries who as well endanger the U. S. Children not only learn from the media, they learn from other means. They learn from the adults that are supposed to know right from wrong. That person committing the crime may be a role model, a parent, a family member, or someone they don’t even know. Who’s to say kids don’t learn from these people.
There are a lot of violent acts committed in the world. I would have no doubt that there is more violence in our society throughout one day then there are in the number of violent movies / shows on TV. Parental Supervision is a huge contributor to the crime situation with children. Any show or movie that is shown on television, even on cable TV, has a warning in the beginning. The warning is there for a reason, to notify the adult what the movie / show is rated. If there is so many problems with kids committing crimes, then why isn’t there enough parental supervision.
There not only needs to be the supervision for TV, but also, the music, the books, and the websites kids are hearing, reading and looking at. To state the obvious, television programming is not fully responsible for aggressive acts among children. Although it may have some effect on the violence kids are committing, it is not at all the main purpose, or reason. There are so many other causes that contribute greatly to this issue. Our society needs to step in and take control of children’s lives. The actors / actress ‘, producers, and broadcasters are just making a living, and giving the viewers what they want.
It is up to the parents, guardians, and our society to stop the aggressive acts children are committing.
