Journal Response Two on Walter Gretzky On Family, Hockey and Healing (Pg. 69-242) When we look back on his sixty-three years Walter has been on this planet; I can honestly say that I feels like he’s lived a thousand lifetimes. Not one, a thousand. All the different places he has been and things that have happened throughout his life.

It’s wonderful to travel so much, have adventures with his good friends and meet such a wide variety of people-heads of state, native chiefs, Hollywood celebrities, and sports legends. But also most of his glory came by helping others and reaching towards them. “Reaching out to others often means having to get up in front of people and speak, something I used to do only if I couldn’t avoid it.” Pg. 142. Helping others through their hard times can be a very important thing.

Walter had met some remarkable people in his travels and made some great friends wherever he’s gone, but sometimes he exclaims “You don’t even have to leave your street to find special friends in this world. Take Daniel Eickmerier. I met him on Halloween night, about seven years ago.
Daniel was eight years old at the time.” It is remarkable to have good close friends when you need them. It not only gives you the mental support but also the fact that there is someone out there who cares about you and that feeling alone is good enough for anyone. Was im Mansoor.
