Nowadays, environmental issue has become a hot topic in the society. Lots of people are worried about the Mother Earth and man’s destructive impact on it. The preservation of environment is widely discussed in media, press and academic writing as well.
Many environmental problems seem so big that only governments, local authorities or big companies can deal with them. One example is global warming. We need government action to reduce emissions from coal and oil burning power stations and to develop safer sources of power. These require tough regulations and huge investment.
Recycling, reducing and reusing are other ways to protect our environment. For recycling, we can try to sort out rubbish. For example, we can recycle the aluminium cans, glass bottles and newspapers. Besides that, we can transfer the organic matter such as potato peelings, leftover food and tea leaves to a compost heap in the garden and used as a natural fertilizer for the plants.
It is very good to teach our young generation to love and appreciate the nature. Otherwise, we should take part in any environment campaigns which lead us to be kind to the Earth. It is important to keep the environment clean so that all living things continue to live in comfort and safely.
Another way to save the environment is to save water. Small step a person can take to limit her consumption of water is: only wash the dishes or do the laundry when there is a full load to be done, do not let tap water run for long periods while brushing one’s teeth. Other obvious drinkable water savings would be not to use sprinklers on rainy days or using a broom to sweep one’s carport instead of the garden hose. *to be continue
