Allen Isaacs My Own Health History Today I would say that I am physically healthy, but I could be more emotionally healthy. The reason I feel this way is because I am currently training for the Berea College track and field team. To do this I have to run times that are not easily attained. This is what causes me to be physically healthy.
This is just one of many factors that I believe have influenced my physical health. Others include swimming, basketball, walking, cross-country, my own personal view of my self, and the way others view me. All of these factors have played a positive influence on my training habits and abilities. Basketball has been a very large part of my life. It was the first sport I ever learned to play. When I was younger I would watch my older brothers and my uncles go the park and play.
It was something I enjoyed doing. That has a lot to do with your health. If you can find something you love to do and can give you a workout then you can be considered healthy. playing basketball made me better physically and mentally. As I grew older I started to play more, which put me in better shape. Finally by my freshman year I was playing for my high school.
I learned the great skills as well as teamwork. This is an example of how sports develop a person mentally and physically. While playing basketball probably was the most enjoyable it did not put me in the best shape. I have tried just about every sport in my life, but the two that I have been most successful at are swimming, and running.

Running is the one I have decided to do in college, but I also love swimming. I started swimming when I was about two years old, but I did not start competitively swimming until the summer before my junior year. I trained daily when I joined my summer swim team after my best friend told me it would be good for the upcoming cross country season. After swimming I realized that it is a great way to learn controlled breathing, and to increase your VO 2 max.
It is also a great workout for your legs and arms. And the competition from swimming teaches sportsmanship, and punctuality. Swimming to me was a major part of my health and physical fitness my junior and senior year, but the biggest part was running cross-country and track and field. I did not start competing in cross-country until my junior year of high school.
I remember going to the first practice and running about a mile and a quarter in twelve minutes. My first race was 24: 24, which is right around eight minutes a mile. That was the first step to me becoming a better runner. I have always been a strong competitor. I would compete in gym, sports, and activities.
It is in my mind to always finish on top. That is a factor that leads me to improve my performance at cross-country. At the end of my junior year I had improved my time to 20: 10. This was a huge accomplishment for me, but it was not the end. Over the next summer I trained with my best friend, and went to a very informative running camp. I returned my senior season beginning with a time of 19: 40 at the first meet of the year.
I was not satisfied at all, and after getting over an injury I returned to end the season running a 17: 55. This was a big accomplishment for me because one of my goals for the season was to break the eighteen-minute barrier. I still pursue a college athletic career in running, I had a disappointing cross-country season, but after realizing my errors I hope that my sophomore year will be a lot better, but for now my full attention is on track, and the training it will take to make the team. That is the biggest goal for me to accomplish right now. Goals are another big factor of my personal health. To truly achieve anything means that you have reached your goal.

I set goals for myself all the time because it allows me to focus on one thing at a time. One of my lifetime goals is to grow to be one hundred years old. I cannot do that unless I am healthy. Now there are many ways to tell if you are healthy. One is your own personal feeling. How you feel about yourself has a lot to do with whether you are or not healthy.
The next way is to take test that over the years have proven to be affective. I took several of these tests in wellness and track and field. Each test proved a different aspect of my physical wellness. I was pleased with the results, but I feel I can do better. The test showed that I have a resting heart rate of 52 beats per minute.
I think that that is an impressive statistic considering that it was rated excellent. I was also rated excellent in, flexibility, cardio respiratory endurance, and muscular strength and endurance by the crunch ster test. My weaknesses were the bench press, where I only received 45%, and the body composition, because I am 13. 7%. I could do more to lower my percent body fat, but by the standards it says that I am good. The test showed that I am in average or above average shape.
It leaves room for improvement which allows me to set more goals for myself. I would like to get my percent body fat down to below ten percent. I have had a lot of things influence my health. I try to stay away from those things that will affect it in a negative way. In doing this I face only positive factors, which allow me to become physically fit, and achieve an overall picture of wellness..
