What do you feel is an appropriate balance between being successful financially and the need to serve others by giving back?
1 My dream of becoming successful financially was something I thought I would never be able to accomplish. As a young single working mom it was hard raising my children on one income and no education. I was at a point in my life where it was just getting harder and harder to make ends meet and I didn’t see times getting any easier for me. I knew my children would eventually grow up and move on and I wouldn’t have to work as hard, but I also had to think about where I was going in life myself and where I want to be in 10, 20 or 30 years. I also had to think about my children and theirs needs and well being, not to mention their education and how to make a good life for them. The more I thought about it, the more and more my desire to make more money, become successful financially and live a good life grew stronger.
I knew the only way to fulfill my dreams of becoming successful financially and make a better life for me and my children was to go back to school. My thoughts finally became a reality for me the day I went back school to complete my education.
Now an even harder question had to be answered and decision had to be made. How am I suppose to pay for my education. ____________________________________________________________

After pondering the thought and a lot of soul searching I decided I was going to school to get a degree in Health Sciences to be a nurse. I felt that by going into the Health field I could work in a hospital and become successful financially and give back to others at the same time, I would have the best of both worlds. Unfortunately, I had to go back to work full-time and was unable to complete my degree in the Health Science field and in order for me to finish school I had to attend full-time. There just wasn’t enough time in a day to do both and take care of my responsibilities being a single mom. Although I didn’t earn my degree as planned I had enough knowledge and skills to earn more money and had to put my school of hold for now or until my children got old enough to take care of themselves.
2 Nevertheless, I wasn’t going to give up on my dream and continued working while seeking more opportunities in an effort to become successful financially. About a year and a few months ago I was hired as a contractor for the City of Houston as an Administrative Coordinator. I accepted this assignment and feel I can give back
